Dolphins selected to take part in new Rivalries uniform series from Nike.
In a somewhat under-the-radar announcement that took place during day two of the 2025 NFL Draft, a new uniform series from Nike called Rivalries will debut in the National Football League during the 2025 NFL season which will see eight teams across the league receive an alternate uniform combination for a single home game against a division foe.
The Miami Dolphins are part of the new Rivalries series — along with every team from the AFC East and NFC West.
The press release from the NFL reads like this:
“Each participating team will wear a unique Rivalries uniform rooted extensively in local community insights during a single home game against a division rival. Following their reveal, these Rivalries uniforms will be included in their team’s uniform lineup for three years after introduction, in addition to existing alternate uniforms.”
It sounds like a similar idea to Major League Baseball’s City Connect initiative — a concept that has received mixed reviews from baseball fans across the nation. Unlike the MLB’s alternate uniform program, the participating NFL teams will only be wearing their new alternate jersey once per season, however.
While many Miami Dolphins fans have been clamoring for a change to their current uniform, most fans seemingly would prefer that the historic South Florida franchise return to their roots and make their current throwback uniforms permanent. While it doesn’t sound like that change will be taking place any time soon, a new look is on the way in the coming weeks/months, and we will keep you updated with those changes once announcements are made.
