The Linc – What now for Dallas Goedert?

The Linc – What now for Dallas Goedert?

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

The Eagles didn’t draft a tight end. What does that mean for Dallas Goedert? – Inquirer

The simple answer is money, but of course it’s never that simple. Goedert is slated to earn $14.25 million next season, and with none of it guaranteed, the Eagles have decided he isn’t worth that amount, especially considering their fiscal challenges this offseason. But even if they thought they could afford Goedert, it’s unlikely that number would be their valuation. He’s been a top-tier tight end for years, but he’s north of 30 and has missed 15 games to injury over the last three seasons. The Eagles want Goedert back, but they likely want him to agree to a pay cut or a restructure that extends the contract and helps spread the salary cap charge over future years. Roseman wasn’t quite pleading to his tight end, but Goedert has a choice to make: take the haircut or find another team prepared to offer him more than the Eagles.

Did the draft change Dallas Goedert’s status with Eagles? – NBCSP

There were 16 tight ends drafted throughout the three days of the 2025 NFL Draft and the Eagles, despite making 10 selections, didn’t end up with one. Did that do anything to change the situation between the Eagles and Dallas Goedert? GM Howie Roseman was asked that question on Saturday night. “Dallas is part of the team as we speak,” Roseman said. “Obviously, as we go forward, we’re going to continue to address things on this team and right now nothing further.” If you haven’t been paying attention, the situation between Goedert and the Eagles is seemingly very unsettled as the veteran tight end enters the final year of his contract. And when Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni spoke at the NFL owners meetings last month, they were both non-committal about Goedert’s future with the team. But it would stand to reason that it seems more likely Goedert will be back after the Eagles didn’t draft a tight end. One thought was that Goedert could be traded to a team that missed out on a tight end in the draft; one of those teams ended up being the Eagles.

2025 NFL Draft Results: Eagles welcome 10 new rookies to Philadelphia – BGN

The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2025 NFL Draft with eight picks and they left with 10 new rookies. Here’s a recap of this year’s draft class!

Day 3 Review – Iggles Blitz

6th Round – QB Kyle McCord – Syracuse – 6-3, 218. I was watching tape of TE prospect Oronde Gadsden and was really impressed with some of the throws coming his way. As I watched Syracuse games, McCord stood out. He can really throw the ball. McCord transferred from Ohio State and had a great year for SU. He’s got NFL size and a good arm. He is an accurate passer. He’s not afraid to make tough throws. I did think he struggled with pressure at times.

Eagles NFL Draft Day 3 breakdown: From Ty Robinson to Kyle McCord to Antwaun Powell-Ryland, a breakdown of how Howie Roseman finished the class – PHLY

Round 4, Pick 111: DT Ty Robinson, Nebraska. Robinson, who turns 24 next week, is 6-foot-5 and 288 pounds and spent six years at Nebraska — long enough to be college teammates with Eagles center Cam Jurgens. Robinson emerged as a valuable player for former Temple coach Matt Rhule — he wore a single-digit the past two seasons, which is an honor in Rhule’s program. He finished last season with a team-high seven sacks, 12.5 tackles for a loss and was third-team all-Big Ten. Robinson had strong athletic testing (4.83-second 40-yard dash at 288 pounds and a 119-inch broad jump. As an older prospect, he does not have the same developmental upside as a player three years younger than him, but he should have an early role as a rotational player on the Eagles’ defensive line this season. “It doesn’t take long to put on the tape to like Ty Robinson,” Roseman said. “He’s got quickness, he can work edges, he’s strong with his hands, he’s got great elite character. He’s a Philly kind of player, so again, he was a guy that we really were targeting (Friday) at 96, woke up and was really hoping that he was there at our pick and that was one we weren’t considering trading back from.”

2025 NFL Draft: Boxes checked, remaining offseason to-do list for all 32 teams – NFL.com

The Eagles lost some key defensive pieces from their Super Bowl roster, but Vic Fangio got some new toys to play with in the draft, without necessarily having to force anyone into the starting lineup immediately. Otherwise, the Eagles were in the fortunate position of being able to concentrate on adding depth to a championship roster. Do the big-name defensive losses bring Philly closer to the pack? Maybe a little. But it’s hard to forget how dominant the Eagles were in both the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl, and that Fangio was only in his first year as the defensive coordinator. Attention should now turn to how new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo (replacing Kellen Moore) puts his fingerprints on a unit that was rolling at the end of the 2024 season. Barring a terrible Super Bowl hangover — not unheard of — or a rash of injuries on the offense, this feels like a team that is simply retooling for another run.

Eagles’ first-round pick Jihaad Campbell returns home: ‘It was worth the wait’ – PE.com

Eagles’ first-round pick Jihaad Campbell’s dream came true Thursday night when the team selected him with the 31st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While the dream of making it to the NFL was achieved, the cherry on top came when it was Executive Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles making the call to Campbell. Less than 24 hours later, Campbell and his parents, Mark and Stephanie, arrived in Philadelphia on a flight from Green Bay, where they were in the green room for the draft. “When I was on the plane, I was looking like, ‘Dang, I’m really back home.’ That’s when it hit me. I was like, ‘OK. All right,” Jihaad Campbell said. “I’m really excited to be an Eagle.”

Analyzing the Eagles’ reported 2025 undrafted free agent class – PhillyVoice

Montrell Johnson, RB, Florida (5’11, 212): Johnson actually saw his workloads decrease a little bit each season in college. He has some breakaway ability (he ran a 4.41 at the Combine), and he is a physical runner who likes trying to truck opposing defenders. Very fun highlight reel. The 2025 running back class was abnormally loaded, so Johnson probably would have been drafted in a normal year. He has a legitimate chance to make the team, in my opinion.

Valuing the Trades of the 2025 NFL Draft – Over The Cap

A very basic trade giving away a middle round pick this year to move up the one spot to make a pick. This is an easy decision for KC who wasn’t losing anything here. The benefit for the Eagles is they didn’t do anything dumb by including a higher pick next year rather than this year’s known selection. The salary value here is poor for Philly because trading up for a LB is rarely a good use of draft assets but considering the odds were in their favor of drafting him at 32 anyway that really isn’t part of their calculation as the expected value would be driven down if they land a LB at 32.

Eagles Select Jihaad Campbell in the First Round! – The Ringer

The pick is in! The Eagles selected Jihaad Campbell with the 31st overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Sheil and Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation give their thoughts on why Campbell may have slipped to the Eagles and what type of impact he can make (02:47). How concerning is Campbell’s medical report after he fell in the draft to the Eagles (25:15)?

Eagles Draft Texas Safety Andrew Mukuba on Day 2 of 2025 NFL Draft – The Ringer

On Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected Texas safety Andrew Mukuba with the 64th overall pick. Sheil and Brandon Lee Gowton of Bleeding Green Nation discuss the Mukuba selection and the Eagles’ decision to trade out of the third round. What kind of player is Mukuba, and what impact could he have on the team (3:37)? What does Dallas Goedert’s future with the Eagles look like now that they haven’t drafted a tight end early or acquired one via trade (33:54)?

Nebraska’s Ty Robinson Drafted In 4th Round By Philadelphia Eagles – Corn Nation

Robinson was a leader of the 2024 Blackshirt defense, having 37 combined tackles and 7 sacks. His value went way beyond the stats as he was a dependable middle stuffer, and was an essential component in the Huskers finished 17th nationally in scoring defense, and 8th in rushing defense. Robinson was beautiful to watch, spending many plays bursting through an opponent’s line only to be dragged by the jersey from behind by an offensive lineman. He drew few holding penalties, and the only defense I have of Big Ten officials is that they determined the offensive lineman grabbing him was NOT impeding his progress. Robinson dropped to the fourth round because he’s seen as a development project by the NFL, i.e., a dependable backup who MIGHT develop into a starter. I believe the Eagles got a damned fine player who doesn’t take plays off, and within a year will be a starter along with former teammate Cam Jurgens. Robinson also joins fellow Huskers Ochaun Mathis and Nick Gates. While not an Eagles fan, I’m glad Robinson goes to a team with a proven track record. We here at Corn Nation wish you the best of luck, Mr. Robinson!!!!!

Mac McWilliams Drafted by Philadelphia Eagles in 5th Round – Black And Gold Banneret

This is just the second time in the Philadelphia Eagles’ history that they have selected a former Knight. They selected defensive end Greg Jefferson in the 1995 Draft. A transfer from UAB, McWilliams spent his final collegiate season in Orlando. He started in 11 games, recording 32 tackles, 25 of them solo tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception.

Philadelphia Eagles draft another Georgia Bulldog, grabbing Smael Mondon in the fifth round – Dawg Nation

Injuries were an issue for Mondon during his collegiate career, which helps explain why he went when he did in the draft. He missed time during the 2024 season with a foot injury. But Mondon returned to the field and played some of his best football to end his college career. Mondon posted a career-high 13 tackles in an overtime win over Georgia Tech. “His confidence, his ability to make plays and tackles, his instincts are huge,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said of Mondon. “I think back to all the games he didn’t play in. He missed all this time for this time, and he’s gotten good reports on his foot. He’s had two or three x-rays that look like it’s healed.”

Boston College’s Drew Kendall Drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft – BC Interruption

Kendall is a Boston College man through-and-through, following in his father’s footsteps who played for BC in the 1990s and was drafted in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. Kendall earned all-ACC first team honors in 2024 and was an important leadership presence on the Boston College offensive line for three seasons. Kendall may struggle to make an immediate impact in the NFL due to his lack of strength compared to other professionals, but he has the grit and determination that any coach will love and we could see him eventually work his way into a starting OL. You can read more about Kendall’s scouting report here.

Syracuse football: Kyle McCord selected by Philadelphia Eagles in 6th round of the 2025 NFL Draft – Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician

Following a successful 10-win season, the Syracuse Orange football team has one of their top players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Quarterback Kyle McCord was selected by the Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles with the 5th pick of the 6th round. McCord becomes the 1st Syracuse quarterback to be drafted since Ryan Nassib was selected in the 4th round by the New York Giants in 2013. McCord is the Syracuse all-time program leader for single-season completions (391), passing yards (4,779), and passing TDs (34). The first two marks are also all-time ACC records.

2025 NFL Draft: Myles Hinton taken by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round – Maize n Brew

At 6-foot-7, 323 pounds, Hinton possesses the ideal size to play left tackle at the next level. Originally a Stanford Cardinal, the brother of former Wolverine defensive lineman Chris Hinton transferred to Michigan ahead of the 2023 season. Myles started four games at right tackle during Michigan’s national championship run and played in an additional nine games. His versatile skillset made him an invaluable member of Michigan’s vaunted “Mammoth Personnel,” which overpowered multiple high-level opponents on the ground en route to Michigan’s first outright title since 1948. As a senior, Hinton was the brightest spot on a lowly offensive line — earning All Big Ten Honorable Mention — and helped the Michigan Wolverines overpower Ohio State, 13-10, securing one of the biggest upsets in the history of the rivalry. In total, Hinton started 30 career games and played in 46.

Texas OT Cam Williams selected in the sixth round with the No. 207 pick by the Philadelphia Eagles – Burnt Orange Nation

Williams’ size and length excite NFL teams throughout the league. His physical stature and strength directly project to the next level. In addition, he has power that jumps off the tape. Throughout the season, Williams’ status as a prospect reached peaks and valleys. During the heightened frenzy around his size-length ratio, Williams was being projected as a first-round pick and top-five offensive tackle. While Williams remains one of the most physically-gifted tackles in the class, NFL scouts have concerns about his quickness, technique, and bend. Williams is still young and has room to grow, but he consistently allowed speed rushers to beat him off the ball — while he shows flashes of great upside, his technique doesn’t consistently demonstrate these abilities. He also struggled with penalties throughout the season, committing 16, the second-most among all offensive linemen in the FBS. Williams also had a difficult pre-draft process — he wasn’t able to go through any testing at the combine or at the Texas Pro Day because of the knee injury he sustained against Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Philadelphia Eagles get a steal with former Virginia Tech edge in sixth round – Fighting Gobbler

In the end, this could very well end up being a steal for the defending Super Bowl champs. It was head-scratching to see Powell-Ryland last as long as he did, but he is the second former Hokie to end up in the NFC East after wide receiver Jaylin Lane was picked earlier in the day by the Washington Commanders. In 2024, Powell-Ryland was first-team All-ACC, and what a final season he had for Virginia Tech. In 12 games, he racked up 43 tackles, 29 solo and 14 sacks. He had four-sack games against Old Dominion and Boston College and former scrambling QB Thomas Castellanos. He joined elite company this past season and had the four sacks against the Eagles in front of former Tech great Bruce Smith. Powell-Ryland improved during his two seasons with the Hokies after coming over from Florida and being drafted by the Eagles, It gives him a chance to grow at the professional level without being rushed into the lineup. His speed and ability will no doubt get him on the field for some downs in 2025.

Maxen Hook signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as undrafted free agent – Hustle Belt

This time last year, it was former Toledo Rocket defensive back Quinyon Mitchell making noise at the NFL Draft after being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round. Now, Maxen Hook— Mitchell’s longtime teammate— is set to join him in the same defensive backfield, signing as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday evening. Hook was a valued leader both on special teams and in the defensive backfield from the safety position, winning a role in his true freshman season in 2020 before claiming a permanent starting position in 2021. By the end of his tenure at Toledo, Hook would win four-straight placements on all-MAC teams— including three-straight placements on the all-MAC first-team defense from 2022-24— while also compiling 356 total tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks, seven interceptions, 22 pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a blocked kick over 52 games in Blue and Gold.

Rutgers Football 2025: Who Signed UDFA Deals After The Draft? – On The Banks

According to 247 Sports former Rutgers Safety Desmond Igbinosun is signing with the Baltimore Ravens and former Offensive Tackle Hollin Pierce signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Pierce was viewed as one of the most NFL-ready Knights and was expected to be called during the draft. This signing could prove to be very fruitful for the Eagles if he develops right.

The Washington Commanders 2025 draft class is complete! – Hogs Haven

The Commanders entered day 3 with three picks and they didn’t make any trades. Washington kicked off Day 3 by picking Virginia Tech WR Jaylin Lane in the fourth round. He is a speedy, versatile receiver who is a little undersized. He got the Commanders tag and was the top punt returner on Adam Peters draft board. He will likely take over the Jamison Crowder role on the team. Washington had a long wait until their next pick, and they used it on UCLA LB Kain Medrano. He was the fastest LB at this year’s NFL combine, and is expected to make a quick impact on special teams. He was a sixth-year senior, and a captain who’s also a physical freak which checks a lot of boxes for Adam Peters. Washington closed out their 2025 draft class by drafting Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Arizona with the 245th overall pick in the 7th round. The Commanders add a running back to a room that already includes Brian Robinson Jr, Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Robinson Jr.

Jerry Jones: Cowboys could add veteran receiver, but believe in Jonathan Mingo – Blogging The Boys

That makes sense. If this team adds a Keenan Allen, or dare I say, an Amari Cooper, then we would all allow ourselves to let Lucy line the proverbial ball up for another go at a field goal attempt. We are not asking for much in this way. But the Cowboys could always elect to sit where they are. That would not be surprising to anyone who has paid attention to this team for even a short amount of time. A reason for Dallas feeling like they are good could be that they feel they “drafted” Jonathan Mingo this cycle given that they spent what would have been their fourth-round pick on him at the trade deadline last season. Jerry also hyped up Mingo in the press conference and mentioned him as a player who could “make a jump” this coming season.

‘Things I think’ about the New York Giants’ 2025 NFL Draft – Big Blue View

I saluted GM Joe Schoen for a “home run” first round of the draft. Now that the full draft is in the books, let’s give the GM more flowers. The GM hit every mark. He checked every box. He read the room right throughout the seven rounds. Schoen did the right thing in Round 1, adding the best pass rusher and defensive player in the draft. He got the potential franchise quarterback he and Brian Daboll have sought ever since they arrived in 2022 without giving up too much. We called for adding to the trenches on both sides, and to the running back room. Check and check. He added tough, physical players. Schoen also read the room right in Round 4, passing on offensive linemen at No. 105 and grabbing Cam Skattebo before the running backs started flying off the board. Most of those offensive linemen were still there at 154, and he nabbed a potential five-position player Dane Brugler of The Athletic gave a Round 3 grade in his draft guide.

2025 NFL draft: Judging overreactions to picks, team classes – ESPN

Drafting Jaxson Dart will save the jobs of Giants coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen — at least for one year. The verdict: OVERREACTION. It’s a logical conclusion to reach, and it could turn out to be the case. But history tells us drafting a first-round quarterback is absolutely no guarantee of job security. This time last year, Matt Eberflus (Bears) and Jerod Mayo (Patriots) were coaches of teams that drafted first-round quarterbacks, and both are gone. (As are their offensive coordinators, before you come at me with that point.) Frank Reich (Panthers), Urban Meyer (Jaguars), Matt Nagy (Bears, again), Anthony Lynn (Chargers), Pat Shurmur (Giants), Jay Gruden (Washington), Hue Jackson (Browns), Todd Bowles (Jets) and Steve Wilks (Cardinals) all were fired within a year of selecting a first-round quarterback, and that list only goes back to 2018. The Daboll/Dart connection might very well be what resurrects the Giants franchise. The coach and the QB both appear to have the talent to make it work. But if 2025 goes badly, there’s plenty of recent history that tells us hope for the future isn’t enough to save a coach’s job.

The Browns’ reaction to the Shedeur Sanders pick was … subdued – SB Nation

The Cleveland Browns made a big draft move on Saturday, selecting Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The move came after the team spent a late third round pick on Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel. It was a curious move to add a second rookie to the quarterback room, but not entirely shocking. And the chance to land Sanders in the fifth round offers some value for a guy many thought would go on day one, if not day two. The reactions in the Browns war room suggests a top-down approach to this pick. General manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski were seen offering polite clapping but not much in the way of excitement about landing Sanders this late.
