The Miami Dolphins will not be bringing back Emmanuel Ogbah for another year.

After five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, free agent edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah will be staying in Florida in 2025, is changing teams. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ogbah is signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a one-year, $5 million contract. The agreement comes a day after the 2025 NFL Draft ended and signals the start of the next round of veteran free agent signings.

A 2016 second-round pick by the Cleveland Browns, Ogbah spent three years there before being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. After one year with Kansas City, winning Super Bowl LIV during the stint, he signed as a free agent with Miami, agreeing to a two-year contract. He then signed a four-year contract extension in 2022, but was released after the 2023 season. He re-signed with the Dolphins in July 2024 on a one-year contract.

With Miami, he appeared in 73 games, with 43 starts, in five seasons. He recorded 163 tackles, 29.5 sacks, two interceptions, 21 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in that time.

He has 47.5 career sacks.

The 2024 season was a rebound season for Ogbah, who struggled to find consistency in the Dolphins’ defensive scheme in 2023. Listed as a linebacker in Miami’s 3-4 defensive front, Ogbah returned to more of a traditional defensive end role, playing with his hand on the ground near the line of scrimmage, and he found success. Heading to Jacksonville, he likely takes on a veteran defensive end role in their 4-3 base defense, working behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker on the depth chart.

The Dolphins’ edge rushers include Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Chop Robinson, limiting any role Ogbah could have had in Miami for a sixth season, but he can still contribute to a team and should be able to find success in a rotational role in Jacksonville this season.
