Giants had one pick on Day 2, and the Internet says Joe Schoen did well with it
The New York Giants had only selection on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Day 2 NFL Draft Grades show that they made the most of it by selecting Toledo defensive tackle Darius Alexander at No. 65.
In our poll at Big Blue View, 71% (1,258) of 1,764 voters gave the selection of the small school defensive tackle an ‘A’.

How others grade the pick
Grade: B
The Giants aren’t messing around in the trenches this year. After spending the third overall pick on Abdul Carter, New York has beefed up its interior with another strong pass rusher in Toledo’s Darius Alexander. The Senior Bowl standout can play from the 1-technique through the 4i, making him an intriguing pair with Dexter Lawrence.
Alexander’s age (he’ll turn 25 in August) and small-school pedigree dropped him in the draft. However, his quick first step and heavy hands allow him to penetrate in one-gapping schemes, and his motor should play well to a situational pass rushing role. With Carter and Alexander joining Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, the Giants suddenly look very deep on the defensive line.
Grade: A-
This one is a lot of fun! Alexander is an older prospect, but you can’t ignore his consistent pressure across multiple alignments both at Toledo and at the Senior Bowl. I wonder where he plays, but on 3rd downs he, Dexter Lawrence, Abdul Carter and others will be really cool.

Grade: A-
Trading back into the first round for Jaxson Dart cost the Giants their third-round pick this year and next. I didn’t change their Day 2 grade because there’s a chance they found their future starting quarterback.
Alexander’s length and athleticism give him a chance to start in Year 2, potentially becoming a Day 2 version of Leonard Williams if he maximizes his skill set.
Grade: Good
This is good value for the Giants, as Alexander entered the draft as the 49th-ranked player on the PFF big board. Alexander’s 90.1 PFF grade in 2024 ranked third among all interior defenders in the class.
Grade: A
The Giants already took the draft’s best pass rusher, Abdul Carter, and now grab Alexander, who has incredible physical ability. Overlooked at Toledo, Alexander flashed during the Senior Bowl practice, where he was named the National Team’s top defensive lineman. Great value selection.
