He might not be the biggest CB in this year’s draft class, but Mac McWilliams should fit into the Eagles’ defense very well.
The Eagles are clearly addressing areas with depth concerns after free agency, and their first four picks of the 2025 NFL Draft have been defensive players. With the No. 145 overall pick, Howie Roseman made the call to CB Mac McWilliams, and while he might considered undersized, he’s extremely talented.
McWilliams transferred to UCF last year from UAB, but really shined during the pre-draft process at the Senior Bowl. He’s a very fast player and is versatile enough to play in different roles in the secondary.
Howie Roseman said the Eagles weren’t concerned about injuries when considering the size of their second-round pick, Andrew Mukuba, and it’s safe to assume they aren’t worried about McWilliams on the field, either. McWilliams was a solid tackler, and his size never seemed to hinder his performance, so the Eagles clearly have a plan for the secondary and what kind of players they want to bring in to compete.
The Eagles pick CB Mac McWilliams from Central Florida with pick 5-145.
McWilliams (5-10, 191) played one year at UCF after transferring from UAB. Had 1 INT, 3 PBUs, 6 1/2 TFLs in 2024. Ran a 4.41 at the Combine after a strong showing at Senior Bowl.

Mac McWilliams is the type of player we could look back on a few years from now and ask how he slipped to the 5th.
Turn on his tape against Travis Hunter, Tetairoa McMillan, or ‘26 first-rounder Jordyn Tyson… outstanding stuff. Also had an excellent week at the Senior Bowl.…

(I know we’re focused on Shedeur to the Browns but I like that Mac McWilliams pick for the Eagles)

The Eagles add CB Mac McWilliams from UCF. He ran 4.41 so he’s got the speed they like. McWilliams can play in the slot or outside so he is good depth at multiple spots. Another pick to help the defense.

Eagles fifth-round pick UCF CB Mac McWilliams is undersized yet incredibly tough and a willing tackler in run support.
Certainly not the highest rated CB remaining but he fits with Philadelphia’s defense.
I would have went in a different direction.

Mac McWilliams was drafted in round 5 pick 145 in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 7.38 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 724 out of 2761 CB from 1987 to 2025. https://t.co/CYRjRlvx1H pic.twitter.com/SWqXkImvhU

My favorite Mac McWilliams nugget:
99th percentile zone coverage PFF grade and the filmed matched it for the most part. Will try and get a cutup out after the draft concludes!

The Eagles pick UCF cornerback Mac McWilliams at 145.
Another undersized defensive back at 5-10, 191 pounds. Another defensive back who started elsewhere (UAB) and transferred for his final season. Also fast (4.41 40) and versatile (many coverages as an outside corner). He could…

The #Eagles select Mac McWilliams out of UCF at 145.
It’s clear the Roseman and staff came into the draft looking to address the missing pieces from the offseason on defense. First four picks are all to help Vic Fangio retool the top NFL unit from a year ago. pic.twitter.com/ivsCK3Za7a

By the way, the Philadelphia Eagles picked UCF CB Mac McWilliams with the 145th overall pick.
I had him mocked to the Giants … in Round 7.
He runs a 4.4 and had a good week at the Senior Bowl. I should’ve known he’d never get that far.

While Jihaad Campbell and Ty Robinson are massive players, Andrew Mukuba and Mac McWilliams are both the complete opposite.
Eagles clearly don’t mind selecting undersized defensive backs in this year’s draft. pic.twitter.com/3aNdjClgKk

Mac McWilliams – UCF – 5100-185e #SeniorBowl
High level man coverage corner. Fluid, athletic and sticky in man. Accelerates at an elite level, matches most everything thrown his way. Physical enough to align in press, disrupt catch point and fulfill tackling duties. pic.twitter.com/wQP5kC5L5e
