A productive linebacker will be coming to Cincy.
Night two of the 2025 NFL Draft is underway, and fanbases across the league are eager to learn about the newest faces joining their franchises.
After selecting Shamar Stewart last night with the 17th pick, the Cincinnati Bengals returned to the podium tonight with the 49th pick. With their second-round selection, they elected to choose South Carolina linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr.
Knight, a 6-2 and 245-pound linebacker out of Locust Grove (GA), started his collegiate career at Georgia Tech in 2019. After four seasons in Atlanta, he transferred to Charlotte in 2023 and then headed his career with the Gamecocks.
After a solid start to his career with the Yellow Jackets, it is his last two collegiate seasons that really burst him onto the NFL Draft scene.
Over the last two seasons, he has totaled 178 tackles, including 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and four interceptions.
With a rebuilding defense happening for the Bengals under new DC Al Golden, landing Knight to pair alongside Logan Wilson is a solid addition. A downhill linebacker, he has also shown the ability to make plays in coverage as he has added five pass deflections alongside his four interceptions.
A group that needed some new bodies adds a talented one in Knight, and if he can continue to build off his last two collegiate seasons, he could burst onto the scene quickly for the Bengals.
Now, let’s take a poll. How would you rate the Bengals pick here in the second round? Let us know in the comments and poll below!
