Former Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban sings praises of Kenneth Grant

Miami Dolphins select “dominating” presence in Michigan’s Kenneth Grant during first round of 2025 NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins had a major hole to plug along their defensive line — with just Zach Sieler and Benito Jones as meaningful snap takers under contract for the upcoming season. Well, they filled that hole in a massive way on Thursday night, selecting former Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant at pick thirteen in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

A behemoth of a man, Grant immediately passes the eye test. But the player isn’t just a rare sight to see due to his humongous stature, he’s a physical beast on the field as well. Don’t believe me? Just look at what former Dolphins head coach and legendary University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban had to say about Grant and his former running mate in college, Mason Graham — who was selected by the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night.

I don’t ever remember, in all the time that I coached, playing against two more dominating guys inside than when we played Michigan with #55 (Graham) and #78 (Grant). I mean, these two guys are really, really good. You’re talking about power. You’re talking about athleticism. You’re talking about guys who play hard and compete well.

Saban — who won more National Championships in college football than any coach in history (7) — is clearly a fan of Kenneth Grant, but he wasn’t the only one during the NFL Draft that held the 6’4”, 331 lbs defensive tackle in high regard.

According to Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, as soon as he turned in the card for Grant, he got three text messages from other teams around the National Football League saying that the former Wolverine was “their guy.”

Time will tell if the Grant selection was a good one, but as it stands right now, it’s hard to be mad about the selection of a player who is held in such high regard by so many people around the game of football.
