New York’s aggressive bid for a franchise quarterback falls short for the second straight year.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New York Giants made a bold attempt to move up in the NFL Draft — offering their 2025 and 2026 first-round picks, along with additional draft assets, to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the chance to select quarterback Cam Ward. Tennessee declined the offer, opting to hold their position.
This marks the second straight year the Giants have reportedly tried to package multiple first-rounders to land a franchise quarterback. Last year, they made a similar offer to New England in hopes of moving up to the No. 3 spot to select Drake Maye.
The move signals New York’s ongoing uncertainty at the quarterback position and a growing urgency in the front office to find a long-term solution. The Giants now have Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston under contract but they still appear eager to reset the position with a young talent.
Despite the rejection, the offer itself shows New York isn’t afraid to take big swings — though so far, none have landed. Whether Cam Ward becomes a star in Tennessee — or elsewhere—remains to be seen.
