Las Vegas could get interest in No. 6 pick
The Las Vegas Raiders could decide to trade down from the No. 6 spot in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday.
It may make sense because it could give the Raiders, who have nine picks, more quality choices to fill some of their many needs and they might be able to still get a top target. Among the teams that are reportedly interested in moving up near the top of the draft are the San Francisco 49ers or Los Angeles Rams. Let’s look at what deals with more teams could look like:
49ers
Raiders send No. 6, 108 and 143 to San Francisco for No. 11 and 43.
I hear Raiders’ fans freaking out already because they are giving up more picks in a trade down. But, after you stop hyperventilating, you realize the Raiders are getting a lot of firepower in return for a short journey down the draft board. This would give Las Vegas picks No. 11, 37, 43 and 68 in the first two days opposed to picks No. 6, 37 and 68.
Rams:
Raiders send No. 6 to Rams for No. 26, 90 and 127 and 2026 first-round pick
This would be a major drop down in the first round, but they do get a premium pick in Day 2 and a the big power of another draft-pound pick next year which get help them get a big-time quarterback prospect.
Conclusion:
I’m not advocating for any of these deals. We’re just exercising based of potential big swings by San Francisco and the Rams. Personally, I’d try to get the New Orleans Saints to give up No. 9 and No. 71 to drop three picks if the Raiders want to move down.
