The Linc – PFF proposes Eagles trading up for a tight end

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 4/23/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

2025 NFL Draft: 3 things Howie Roseman could have up his sleeve on draft day – PFF
Trade in front of the Los Angeles Chargers for Michigan TE Colston Loveland, then trade veteran TE Dallas Goedert to the Chargers. With Goedert entering the final year of his contract, rumors have swirled that the Eagles may be open to trading the veteran tight end. Losing Goedert would leave a significant void in Philadelphia’s offense, where he’s long been a key piece of the passing game. What better way to fill that void than by drafting a tight end who not only compares favorably to Goedert but would also be playing on a rookie contract — something Philadelphia’s front office will value. Colston Loveland’s 2024 production was impacted by Michigan’s inconsistent quarterback play and injuries that sidelined him for multiple games, but when healthy, he was a focal point of the offense. He averaged 2.67 yards per route run, and his 90.1 PFF receiving grade ranked third among tight ends nationally.

Final Eagles-only 2025 seven-round mock draft – PhillyVoice
Round 5, pick 161: Traded to the Raiders for TE Michael Mayer. Mayer was a Raiders second-round pick (35th overall) who has just 48 catches for 460 yards (9.6 YPC) and 2 TDs in his first two seasons. In 2024, he only had 21 catches for 156 yards (7.4 YPC) and 0 TDs. Part of that was because the Raiders used the 13th overall pick in the 2024 draft to select Brock Bowers, who was instantly one of the best tight ends in the NFL as a rookie, catching 112 passes for 1194 yards and 5 TDs. Mayer is now expendable, and the Eagles will be in need of more help at tight end assuming they go through with moving on from Dallas Goedert after June 1. I watched a little of Mayer, and I like him. He fights for every inch after the catch, and he’s a good blocker. Solid floor. The Eagles need a starting-quality tight end, and the Raiders are willing to trade one. They should talk, in my opinion.

Charles Davis 2025 NFL mock draft 3.0: Cam Ward only QB in Round 1; Eagles pick TE Mason Taylor – NFL.com
32) LSU TE Mason Taylor. GM Howie Roseman does a tremendous job of drafting players and getting them experience before they are needed as starters. Taylor, a smooth pass catcher, could be next in line.

Mike Mayock’s take on the Eagles’ 2025 NFL Draft options – BGN
“On the flip side, Howie will look at the big picture, if his pool of players gets wiped out, but I like a (interior o-line) Grey Zabel from North Dakota State was there, and I kind of like Aireontae Ersery (OT/Minnesota) more than most people, and on the skill side, Emeka Egbuka (WR/Ohio State) could be there, Luther Burden (WR/Missouri) and tight end Mason Taylor (LSU), who I think is undervalued and who I think is a first-round pick all day long. If Mason Taylor was there, if your defensive board is wiped out, he could be there. He started as a freshman and caught a pass that beat Alabama. I think Taylor (6-5, 255) will be there at 32.”

30 Eagles NFL Draft thoughts, part 1: Most likely position, most likely draft pick, target who deserves more attention & more – PHLY
8. If it’s a tight end with their top pick, it would be LSU’s Mason Taylor. I’m still skeptical the Eagles would take a first-round tight end, although there’s growing buzz that Taylor will go in the first round. I’d think it’s more likely in a trade-back scenario. 9. I think it’s more likely than not that the Eagles do not pick at No. 32. If a target falls to the early 20s, then I’d expect Howie Roseman to be aggressive trading up. If the Eagles cannot find a deal to move up, I’d think they’d trade back to a team looking for a quarterback or wide receiver.

Eagles look to replace Milton Williams in Roob’s final mock draft – NBCSP
32. Eagles: Walter Nolen, DT, Mississippi: From Corey Simon in 2000 to Mike Patterson in 2005 to Brodrick Bunkley in 2006 to Fletcher Cox in 2012 to Jordan Davis in 2022 to Jalen Carter in 2023, the Eagles have always loved to draft interior linemen in the first round, even long before Howie Roseman got here. It’s a position that’s gained steam around the league in recent years – Milton Williams’ contract is proof of that – and a position everybody in the organization from Jeff Lurie down to Roseman, Nick Sirianni and Vic Fangio all believe is pivotal. If the Eagles do pick at 32 – which I still think is less than a 50 percent proposition – Nolen is one guy who would make sense. High-effort three-down lineman who is super twitched up and explosive. Nolen stands 6-4, 300, so a pretty similar frame to Williams, who signed a four-year, $104 million contract with the Patriots. He could come in and do the same things Williams did. Stuff the run, get occasional pressure on the quarterback and get penetration when Carter gets doubled teamed.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley surprises Milton Hershey School students – FOX43
Milton Hershey School students were left with an unforgettable memory and some special words of advice from the Eagles and former Penn State running back.

‘Howie come and get me’: North Philly native talks NFL Draft, hoping for call from Eagles – NBC10
Tysheem Johnson is from North Philadelphia and has been playing for Oregon University as a center. NBC10’s Deanna Durante has his story as he sets his sights on the Philadelphia Eagles in this year’s NFL Draft.

Sean McVay says he’s more concerned about pushing players than the tush push – PFT
The push against the tush push is more of a push against pushing. That’s the message that emerged when Rams coach Sean McVay was pressed on the topic during Tuesday’s pre-draft press conference. McVay, a member of the Competition Committee, was asked a simple question: Why do you want to ban the tush push? “I don’t know that it’s exclusively that,” McVay told reporters. “I don’t think the crux of the issue is around pushing other players, but making sure there’s clarity in terms of how it’s going to be officiated. My understanding is it’ll probably be something that’s revisited in May.” Still, McVay has a broader question regarding how the NFL evolved to the point at which pushing the guy with the ball is standard practice.

SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: The Washington Commanders select Texas WR Matthew Golden – Hogs Haven
Nic Scourton was still on the board, but he wasn’t rated as high as the trio of EDGE defenders that went before our pick. South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori was also there, and considered, but the value that WR Matthew Golden could bring to the Washington Commanders offense was too good to pass up here. No trades materialized after Dart was off the board, and the BPA pick for Washington is a speedy weapon for Jayden Daniels’ second year and beyond. The Washington Commanders lost Dyami Brown in free agency, but he has been inconsistent for most of his career. Adam Peters traded for his old friend Deebo Samuel, but he is on the last year of his contract, which was tweaked, but not extended. Terry McLaurin is also in the last year of his second contract with Washington, and he’s expected to get a new deal before the season starts. The rest of the depth chart is a mix of inexperienced youth and recent retiree.

Jerry Jones: Dallas Cowboys are working on ‘two pretty substantial trades’ – Blogging The Boys
For the record this is quite believable relative to this offseason specifically for the Cowboys. So far we have seen them execute three different trades for veterans Kaiir Elam (who was mentioned a lot during the presser), Kenneth Murray and Joe Milton. That Jerry noted the trades could occur after the draft suggests that they are related to other veterans as it is obviously known who is on what team at the moment, but perhaps it is a matter of waiting to see if certain teams end up fuller at certain positions through the draft. Jerry noted that the Cowboys were working on these trades on Tuesday which means that they were extraordinarily busy at The Star. In addition to the press conference they were (apparently) working on these trade ideas and had Stephon Gilmore stopping by. Who knows what comes of that. Maybe this is simply gamesmanship from the Cowboys and they have no plans on executing anymore trades.

Brian Daboll ‘is not a Shedeur guy’ — Todd McShay – Big Blue View
New York Giants coach Brian Daboll “is not a Shedeur [Sanders] guy,” and the Giants could use Kayvon Thibodeaux as part of a trade package to land the quarterback Daboll may prefer, according to Todd McShay of The Ringer. The possibility of trading Thibodeaux should the Giants, as expected, draft Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has become a discussion point. Now, McShay has fanned the flames.

Latest NFL Draft rumors include Giants trading up for a QB, potential Kirk Cousins landing spots – SB Nation
The Giants’ path to a quarterback. The New York Giants, sitting with the third-overall selection in the draft, need a quarterback. Yes the organization added Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason, but with both quarterbacks on one-year deals, the need to secure the QB of the future remains near the top of general manager Joe Schoen’s to-do list. But with the opportunity to draft either Travis Hunter Jr. or Abdul Carter staring them in the face, QB at No. 3 does not seem like the move. So how can the Giants add a quarterback, and who might that be? According to Todd McShay of The Ringer, that likely comes through a trade back into the first round, and the draft analyst believes he knows who Brian Daboll prefers. Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart.
