Other Giant observations
What we’ve learned from Giants’ pre-draft visits: Which QB has NY spent most time on? | The Athletic
Milroe was the fourth quarterback subjected to the Giants’ thorough evaluation process. Milroe is the least developed passer of the group, but he has elite rushing ability and a high ceiling due to his physical traits. He would represent the big quarterback swing Schoen has teased. It’s possible Schoen and Daboll could see parallels to Josh Allen, the raw quarterback picked by the Bills in the first round of the 2018 draft when they were in Buffalo.

2025 NFL Draft: Needs for All 32 Teams, According to Rival Scouting Departments | SI.com
They got multiple live exposures to Ward, Sanders, Dart, Texas’s Quinn Ewers, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Penn State’s Drew Allar, LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier and ex-Georgia QB Carson Beck in the fall. They worked out Dart privately in March, and Sanders, Milroe and Shough last week. And I think, in mid-fall, if you’d presented the circumstance that Ward and Hunter were going Nos. 1 and 2, and the Giants were sitting at No. 3, maybe they’d have taken Sanders. I don’t know if that’s the case anymore, after the coaches and front office have gone through the full process with him. For now, Carter is the chalk pick.

Carter is the draft’s best defensive prospect. He’s a versatile linebacker who should primarily play on the edge but can drop into space as needed. He might not have the same ceiling as Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons, but it might be close.
But if the Giants are comfortable enough with Sanders or even Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, they could trade down. This pick is prime real estate for a team that desperately wants Carter (or Hunter).
Tom Coughlin says Giants have always picked the best player available

Is Shedeur Sanders’ confidence just what the Giants need or too much for New York? | New York Daily News
Confidence is one thing. Cockiness is another. Confidence connotes mature determination. Cockiness often reflects some level of immaturity and insecurity. Sanders’ personality and tone have been described as shades of both during this pre-draft process. Neither solidifies nor disqualifies him as a productive future pro.
One NFL executive, meanwhile, compared to Sanders to Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons as a talented prospect whose words can sometimes create less than favorable headlines. “He has really good habits on the field and loves ball,” the scout said. “But he also says a lot of things that rub people the wrong way and creates distractions off the field with things he says.”
Breer Takeaways: Shedeur Sanders Could Fall Out of the First Round of the 2025 NFL Draft | SI.com
If Sanders gets past the Giants, I’m not sure what happens next. I would be pretty surprised if the New Orleans Saints took him at No. 9 (again, crazier things have happened). After that, maybe it’s the Pittsburgh Steelers at 21. If the Steelers pass, he could fall out of the first round all together.
It’ll fascinating to see how all this played out. To his credit, I have heard he’s been more modest the past couple weeks with teams—early on, some got the impression he was trying to steer his way to certain destinations—and has left those teams with a better feeling than some over the early parts of the process.
2025 NFL Draft: Favorite prospect-team fits | PFF
New York Giants: DI Omarr Norman-Lott, Tennesse (DAY 2). The Giants need someone to help Dexter Lawrence in the middle. They’ve brought in plenty of edge rushers over the past few years but lack an impact interior presence beyond Lawrence, especially in pass rushing. Norman-Lott might be one-dimensional right now as just a pass rusher, but that is exactly what the Giants should be looking for on Day 2. He earned an elite PFF pass-rush grade against true pass sets and recorded an 18.7% pass-rush win rate in 2024.
Giants have ‘unique insight’ into Shedeur Sanders, their potential QB pick | NJ.com
And it turns out they have an interesting connection to the Buffs QB, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“The Giants even had access to added unique insight that no one else did: Colorado’s director of on-campus recruiting for the football team is Maileka Slayton, sister of Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton.”

Theo Johnson ‘super excited’ for young skill group with Russell Wilson at QB | Giants.com
The quarterback had already gotten in some extra work with his tight ends and receivers while training in San Diego and Atlanta. Johnson was part of the latter session.
“The little bit that we’ve worked together, I think he’s going to be not only great for our offense, but for our team,” Johnson said. “Just the energy and the enthusiasm he brings every day with everything that he does and just the leadership he’s going to bring and the experience, I think it’s going to be super valuable for our offense. We’ve got a young offense, a young skill unit, so I think it’s going to be super valuable for us. I’m super excited to see what we can do with him throwing us the balls this year.”
2025 NFL draft: 8 veterans who could be traded and where they might land | PFF
EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, New York Giants. If the Giants select Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick, the odds of a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade could increase significantly. The demand for edge rushers is always high, and Thibodeaux would likely draw interest from multiple teams. The Baltimore Ravens have reportedly shown interest, and the Detroit Lions could be a natural fit as they look to find a long-term running mate for Aidan Hutchinson.
Safety Jevon Holland digging the ‘chill’ vibe with Giants | USAToday.com
“It’s clicking,” Holland told reporters. “Everybody is cool here. Everybody is a good time. Everybody is chill. It’s day one It’s not like we’re doing anything crazy. It’s a workout, introductions, and everybody is just here. It’s a new year, a fresh start. Everybody is ready to get to work and excited to be a part of this.”
