Carter said he would be “all New York” once he hears his name called by the Giants
Abdul Carter, the Penn State edge defender who could be the New York Giants’ selection on Thursday night with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, already seems to be counting on becoming a Giant.
“Yeah, it’ll be a blessing to play with those guys,” Carter told NJ Advance Media, when asked about the possibility of playing with Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns. “I’m gonna come compete and we’ll form the best pass rush in the league.”
“Once I go to New York, I’m all New York,” he said, when asked about how getting drafted by the Giants with the No. 3 pick would impact his Eagles fandom. “I’m gonna have to leave Philly behind.”
Giants GM Joe Schoen could easily make that a reality Thursday night. Carter is the blue chip player most likely to be available to New York on Thursday. Even with a need at quarterback, Schoen said last week that “you don’t pass on that type of player.”
Even with Burns and Thibodeaux established on the edge, Schoen said the Giants “would find a way” to Carter on the field if they selected him.
“You can’t have enough pass rushers,” the GM said.
There has been speculation that the Giants could use Thibodeaux as part of a package to trade back into Round 1 for a quarterback if they select Carter at No. 3.
