Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel head into the 2025 NFL Draft this Thursday with a host of needs. In addition to the team’s needs, both men may be selecting players to save their jobs, meaning they need to pick players who can not only play from day one but also contribute in a way that makes the team better than it was last season. The consensus top needs for the Dolphins heading into the draft are offensive guard, cornerback, defensive tackle, and safety. The cornerback position has now become a more pressing need than it already was with the likely departure of Jalen Ramsey. The team is also expected to take a look at wide receivers, quarterbacks, and running backs in this draft.
In general, the first and second rounds of the NFL draft are expected to result in starters. Some extend that to the third round, but generally, from the third to the seventh, players are more expected to be depth pieces. With the number of needs this roster currently has, the team will have to hit on their first two picks and probably at least one more in a later round to produce starters. This makes me nervous, knowing that Grier can often miss on his second-rounders. He has had some better success at times with some of his later picks. This is not the year that he can afford to miss on any of the high picks.
So this evening’s question of the day is: What do you think the Dolphins will do with their early-round picks? What will be their top priority in the first round? Please give us your first through third or even fourth round picks predictions. Give us just positions or even players you think they may target in each round.
