Other Giant observations
Giants hoping Daboll, Schoen QB process produces gem | ESPN.com
Their process is tough. Perhaps too tough? The Giants haven’t drafted a quarterback since Schoen and Daboll took over in 2022. This has been the result as they look at everything throughout the process — from the way the players interact with the driver picking them up from the airport to how quickly they learn certain plays. Daboll gives each quarterback some plays to learn prior to their visit and workouts. He then constantly tests their recall. It was on full display during last year’s “Hard Knocks” with Jayden Daniels.
It’s more than that, though. The Giants want to see how these prospects do simple tasks such as setting a reservation for dinner when they come to town or making sure they have a video guy scheduled to attend their meetings. Everything is a test of their character and thought process, even for what seem to be the most menial tasks.
Orlovsky: Greatest pressure this draft is on Schoen, Daboll
“The Giants have to get a quarterback in their first two picks of this draft. … There’s no general manager and head coach in a more difficult and worse situation than Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll.”

Jeremiah sees a fascinating little subplot between the Browns and Giants developing the longer the draft goes on, assuming viable QB options remain available. Those two teams also have “darned near identical” draft capital, as Jeremiah noted, for any potential trades, too.
“It’s almost a game of chicken, of who’s going to pay the biggest price, and how much do they love one of these quarterbacks,” Jeremiah said. “And I don’t even know that they like the same quarterbacks, so that’s kind of an interesting thing.”
Where will Shedeur Sanders land? | Pro Football Talk
Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders continues to be the wildest wild card at the top of the draft. Many believe his window opens at No. 8, if a team were to try to cut the line in a trade with the Panthers before the Saints can get Sanders at No. 9. The window arguably closes at No. 21, when the quarterback-desperate Steelers are on the clock. If the Steelers pass, there’s a good chance someone swoops back into the first round to take Sanders.
There are other potential permutations. While few think the Giants would take Sanders or any quarterback at No. 3, they could slip back a few spots before pulling the trigger. The Raiders are arguably a potential destination at No. 6.

New York Giants: Quarterback. Giants owner John Mara made it clear this offseason that finding a franchise quarterback is priority No. 1 — and that the pressure is on for GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll to deliver. Even after adding Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, New York still lacks a long-term answer at the position.
While Shedeur Sanders could be in play at No. 3 overall, the more likely scenario may involve the Giants targeting a quarterback later in the draft.
Rich Eisen: “I am hearing that the Giants do like Jaxson Dart”
Giants’ Brian Daboll ‘high on’ Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart | USAToday.com
Connor Hughes of SNY reports that Brian Daboll extremely high on Dart, whom he grades higher than all other quarterbacks not named Cam Ward, posting on X:
Jaxson Dart is a name to watch for the #Giants as a trade-up option on Thursday. Sources I touched base with said he’s someone Brian Daboll is high on — most out of QBs other than Cam Ward. Among qualities Daboll values in QBs is toughness. Dart has that.
Giants won’t be alone in QB pursuit, though. Matter of how aggressive they want to be.
There’s not much out there right now connecting Shedeur Sanders to Giants. That hype has cooled dramatically from where it was in December.

Round 3, pick No. 99: Cam Skattebo, RB, Arizona State
This Xavier McKinney compensatory pick could be earmarked for a running back, as the Giants have done extensive work on the position during the pre-draft process. The Giants appear to be looking for a complement, so a physical runner would be a good match for the shifty Tyrone Tracy Jr. The 5-foot-10, 216-pound Skattebo fits that description perfectly.
Takeaways: Giants ‘excited’ to be back in building | Giants.com
When entering free agency this offseason, S Jevon Holland said he wasn’t looking for a particular role with any potential new time, but rather wanted to have the best overall situation for himself. “I’ve been in a lot of different systems in my career. It’s not necessarily that I like one more than the other. It’s just about the flow of the team, the personnel, who we have that kind of fits around how I’m going to be able to help and where we need help. I wouldn’t say that I’m looking for one specific role or one specific position, but more so finding me a place where I can help the most.”

NFL Draft power rankings: Which teams made best picks over past 5 years? | The Athletic
20. New York Giants (7.07)
Best pick: WR Malik Nabers (No. 6, 2024); Worst pick: OT Evan Neal (No. 7, 2022); Best value: LB Micah McFadden (No. 146, 2022)
The Giants have had four top-10 picks since 2020, but it’s hard to say they’ve done enough with them. While Nabers and Andrew Thomas have been great, Kayvon Thibodeaux has been hit or miss and Neal has struggled. The bigger issue (apart from the lack of a QB) has been New York’s inability to find value in the mid-to-late rounds. However, the 2024 class appears to have real promise.
NFL Draft 2025: How Giants can trade back and still pick Shedeur Sanders | NJ.com
So let’s say Schoen wanted to move down to No. 5 in a deal with Jacksonville, which would get the No. 3 pick and Carter. The Patriots then would take a non-quarterback at No. 4, leaving Sanders for the Giants at No. 5.
Well, according to the draft trade value chart, there is a 500-point difference between the third and fifth picks. The Jaguars’ second-round pick is worth 540 points. Their third-rounders are worth 240 and 150. And their fourth-rounder is worth 82. Might Schoen be able to squeeze the Jaguars for that second-rounder (No. 36) in a trade-back move and then still get Sanders at No. 5?
2025 NFL Draft: One trade every team should consider | PFF
Giants Receive: Pick No. 1 and a 2026 sixth-rounder; Titans Receive: Pick Nos. 3, 65 and 134 and a 2026 first-rounder
Cam Ward should be the quarterback the team is ready to risk it all for, and this trade would land him. It’s a hefty price to pay — but one New York should be willing to make after 10 losing seasons in 12 years. Ward doesn’t solve all of the Giants’ problems, but he’s talented enough that they could feel comfortable building a team around him as their franchise quarterback.
