Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
2025 NFL draft notes, intel: What Adam Schefter is hearing – ESPN+
Speaking of trades, no team is in a better position to make them this week than the Eagles. They own 20 selections over the next two drafts — more than the actual number of players who can make their team. Therefore, they have added bargaining power should they try to trade for available veterans — a certain possibility during the draft — or if they decide in a less-likely scenario that they want to move up. Moving up is what they’ve consistently done in the past. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman traded up in 2019 to get offensive tackle Andre Dillard, in 2021 to get wide receiver DeVonta Smith, in 2022 to get defensive lineman Jordan Davis and in 2023 to get Jalen Carter, Davis’ college teammate. With the added pick firepower, Philadelphia is armed to make more trades, but deals for veterans instead of moving up in Round 1 are considered more likely. […] Contrary to internet speculation, the Eagles are not trading A.J. Brown. The star wide receiver signed a three-year extension a year ago this week.
The Eagles aren’t trading A.J. Brown to the Patriots for Abdul Carter – PhillyVoice
We can ignore that trading A.J. Brown makes no sense for the Eagles at all from a roster perspective, and just skip right to the part where the Eagles have a little under $12 million in cap space, per the NFLPA’s daily salary cap report. Trading Brown would cause the Eagles’ 2025 salary cap commitments to rise by more than $12 million, putting them over the cap and making it a procedural impossibility even if such a trade made any sense. Apparently WIP picked up on the report and gave it credence by discussing with listeners whether or not they’d do that deal (really, guys?), leading to some of my readers asking if there was anything to it. Anyway, WEEI did not present it as fictional discussion. They presented it as sourced info. So I did dig a little to make sure I wasn’t missing anything from a financial perspective and can confirm that this report is pure fanfic, and poorly thought out fanfic, at that. Congrats on the engagement, though.
A.J. Brown trade to remain a pipe dream for Patriots – Pats Pulpit
A.J. Brown will not be joining the New England Patriots, or in fact any other team, this offseason. Despite some unsubstantiated rumors that they might be willing to make a move, the Philadelphia Eagles have no intentions of trading their star wide receiver, according to a recent report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Brown, 27, is coming off his sixth season in the NFL and third as an Eagle. Before joining Philadelphia in 2022, he was a productive wide receiver and former second-round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans and their then-head coach Mike Vrabel. With Vrabel now in New England and Brown himself a lifelong Patriots fan, the stars finally appeared to be aligning for the two to join forces. Unsurprisingly, however, no such union will materialize this year.
Ranking 20 edge rushers in the 2025 NFL Draft – BGN
10. Nic Scourton, Texas A&M, 6-2 3/8 257. Overall: Nic Scourton is a physically tough, high-motor player with a strong frame and good run defense. However, he’s limited as a pass rusher with average explosiveness and length, and lacks experience dropping into coverage. He should be a solid EDGE at the next level, but the ceiling feels limited. Eagles Thoughts: I don’t think he has the traits to invest a very early pick. He would give the Eagles someone who could step in and play on early downs right away, but I would prefer him in round 2 and not at 32.
Eagles Mock Draft – Iggles Blitz
1st Rd – 32 – OL – Gray Zabel – North Dakota State – 6-6, 312. Zabel was a great OT for the Bison, starting 40 games. He has size, athleticism and skill. The only real knock is length. He’s got short arms. Because of that NFL teams are projecting him at C or G. Zabel played G/C while at the Senior Bowl and had a great week. He followed that up with a strong showing at the Combine. The key question now is how high he’ll go. My guess is he won’t make it to 32, but since this is an ideal scenario, I have him lasting to the Eagles pick. Zabel would be a great fit for the Eagles, on and off the field. He could challenge for the RG spot immediately. He could play center if needed. He also has OT experience. We know Jeff Stoutland loves versatile OL. Zabel is a high character player and team leader. He would be a great fit in Philly from a culture standpoint.
Roob’s Eagles Observations: How being an outsider helped make Howie Roseman an elite GM – NBCSP
4. One trend you see with the inexpensive retread type of free agents that Howie likes to bring in is that once they begin declining, they rarely if ever reverse that trend. Parris Campbell caught 63 passes for 623 yards with the Colts in 2022 but two years later with the Eagles he caught six passes for 30 yards. Albert Okwuegbunam caught 33 passes in 2021 with the Broncos but didn’t catch a pass last year. Devin White was one of the NFL’s best linebackers as recently as 2023, got benched in Tampa in 2024 and didn’t even make it to opening day with the Eagles last year, and he was only 26. John Ross had a 500-yard season with the Bengals in 2019, was out of football for a while, returned with the Eagles and caught one six-yard pass last year. Tight end C.J. Uzomah had nearly 2,000 receiving yards in his career before his production began declining in 2022. Got here last year and didn’t catch a pass. These aren’t old players. It’s not like signing Julio Jones and finding out he’s done. But they’re not bad signings because there’s no risk, there’s no financial obligation if they don’t work out and there’s always a chance maybe a change of scenery jump starts their once-promising career. But it’s something to keep in mind with guys like A.J. Dillon, Harrison Bryant, Josh Uche, Kylen Granson, Terrace Marshall and most of Howie Roseman’s budget free agent signings over the past six weeks. Dillon rushed for nearly 1,600 yards in 2022 and 2023 with a 4.2 average but finished at 3.4 last year. Bryant averaged 25 catches for 240 yards from 2021 through 2023 but caught just nine passes last year. Uche had 11 ½ sacks in 2022 but just five since. Granson had a couple 30-catch seasons with the Colts before dropping to 14 receptions last year. Marshall had 490 yards and a 17.1 average in 2022 but was down to three catches for 41 yards all last year. Once you lose it, you rarely get it back. The odds that this sort of guy becomes a significant contributor is slim. Doesn’t mean they were bad signings. There’s nothing to lose bringing them in. Doesn’t cost anything. But they’re definitely low-percentage signings. Very low.
Howie Roseman: Big Dom is the best in the NFL at finding out about players’ red flags – PFT
“We do have objective criteria that we look at to take players off our board,” Roseman said. “We start with these basic principles of, ‘We will not draft because of this.’ When we get past those guys, then we obviously have a process we go through. That starts with Dom. I don’t think there’s any doubt that he’s the best in the National Football League, and in my opinion all of sports, at what he does. His ability to not only gather information but have a feel for people. And then we just have to make judgments. In those situations, those are a little more subjective, and that’s based on all the information we get.” DiSandro, who has been with the Eagles since 1999, may look on Sundays like his primary job is serving as Nick Sirianni’s bodyguard. But Roseman says DiSandro is one of the reasons the Eagles have drafted well, and built a Super Bowl championship roster.
2025 NFL Power Rankings: Where every team sits ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft – PFF
1. Philadelphia EaglesTeam Needs: WR, G, EDGE, CB. Any defending champion should get some automatic privilege in the next season’s power rankings. The Eagles are partially awarded that here, but they also head into 2025 as arguably the best team in football, concluding 2024 by leading the NFL in PFF overall grade. The biggest issue resides at safety after C.J. Gardner-Johnson‘s trade, and more depth is needed along the defensive line, but Philadelphia will likely rank in the top six in EPA per play on both sides of the ball again with tremendous talent up and down the roster.
A.J. Brown said he woke up to a nasty surprise on Monday. The Eagles wide receiver posted on X that his car had been stolen overnight. In an effort to get the car back, Brown offered a deal to the thief, asking him to return the car and saying he would not press charges. “Dear Philly,” Brown wrote on X. “To whoever stole my car last night, I’ll make a deal with you. … Bring back my car and I won’t press charges, or when I find you today, it’s going to be what it’s going to be. Take it or leave it my guy.” Brown, who lives in South Jersey, recently purchased a Rolls-Royce after winning Super Bowl LIX, and also has been known to drive a Honda Accord. He did not immediately reveal which car had been stolen.

Commanders looking at wide receivers. The Washington Commanders are building around second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels and already made several key additions on the offensive side of the football in free agency. But it seems they are not done adding weapons for their talented young passer. According to Tony Pauline, the Commanders are looking to add a wide receiver or two out of this draft class. While Washington traded for Deebo Samuel already this off-season — who might be an ideal match for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense — only Luke McCaffrey is under contract with the Commanders beyond 2025. Pauline mentions Maryland WR Tai Felton as one option for the Commanders. What may prove tricky for Washington and general manager Adam Peters to navigate is the big gap between their second pick (Pick 29 in the second round, 61 overall) and their third pick (Pick 26 in the fourth round, pick 128 overall). Does Washington look to bridge that gap via a trade, to add a receiver sometime in the third? Or will they stay at 61 and pick the receiver they like?
The NFL Draft is five days away, and we’ve got a fresh roundup of mock drafts to check out. Mel Kiper Jr leads the charge again this week with a two round mock draft that sees the Washington Commanders trading out of the first round. The Cleveland Browns trade up for Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart in a popular scenario for Commanders fans. There are eight other mock drafts that have Washington trading down, and there is a wide range of players that teams are targeting at #29, including OT, WR and S. Adam Peters has said they are looking for value in the draft, and that could mean trading up, down, or sticking at #29 and taking the best player available.
Cowboys fans have overwhelming preference for the position to draft at pick 12 – Blogging The Boys
We asked your opinion on what position group the Cowboys will select at pick 12, and we got an overwhelming response. Wide receiver is the easy winner. The Cowboys have been looking for a complementary receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb, and most of you feel they will get it in the first round of the coming draft.
New York Giants reportedly remain split on Shedeur Sanders – Big Blue View
With just three days to go before the 2025 NFL Draft the New York Giants still appear to be trying to get on the same page when it comes to Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. “Something’s going on. I’m not sure in the last 24 hours but as of 48 hours ago there’s still a little push from the personnel department — that’s Joe Schoen the general manager, his director of scouting, the college director all the scouts. I can’t say individually who it is but apparently someone on that side or multiple people on that side are [saying] let’s really consider Shedeur [at] 3. There’s a little bit more of a push than expected from the personnel people.” McShay said that the coaching staff, led by head coach Brian Daboll is against the idea of selecting Sanders at No. 3.
1) “Game of chicken” emerging between Browns, Giants? It’s beginning to feel like the top three picks in the 2025 NFL Draft are firming up. Miami QB Cam Ward is the overwhelming favorite at No. 1 to the Titans, Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter is being mocked to the Browns at No. 2 and Penn State’s Abdul Carter might not get past the Giants with the third pick. That means the Browns and Giants would be passing on quarterbacks. So how will these two teams address those needs? Trade up from Round 2 or stand pat? Jeremiah sees a fascinating little subplot between the Browns and Giants developing the longer the draft goes on, assuming viable QB options remain available. Those two teams also have “darned near identical” draft capital, as Jeremiah noted, for any potential trades, too. “It’s almost a game of chicken, of who’s going to pay the biggest price, and how much do they love one of these quarterbacks,” Jeremiah said. “And I don’t even know that they like the same quarterbacks, so that’s kind of an interesting thing.”
