Raiders draft: How they could select Emeka Egbuka

Ohio State wide receiver could be potential target

It seems much of the draft speculation surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders and their No. 6 overall pick has centered around a small group of players.

Most of the attention has been focused on Boise State running Ashton Jeanty, Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham, Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan and even Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, should the Raiders go that route.

It makes sense because those players are are top-of-the-draft talents and play positions the Raiders have needs at.

Arguably, wide receiver may be Las Vegas’ biggest need in the first round because running back appears to be a deeper position than receiver this year, so they could get better value waiting to take a running back while grabbing a wide out early.

While the focus has been on McMillan, who many teams covet as the top receiver available, there may be another player at the position in which they Raiders could end up taking: Emeka Egbuka of Ohio State.

While Egbuka may not be graded as high as McMillan by some teams, the Raiders could covet him.

He was coached by new Las Vegas offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, in 2024, of course. So, Kelly is fully aware of how Egbuka, who many NFL scouts think can be a special slot receiver, can fit into the Raiders’ offense.

Also, he could probably be taken later in the first round so they Raiders could trade down, say, 10-15 spots, accumulate more quality picks and still get a player who fits the program and can be an instant starter.

Egbuka, who grew up a Pete Carroll and Seattle Seahawks fan in Washington, is considered a high-character player and who is a safe pick. So, he could be quite an appealing option some folks may not be considering.
