Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 4/17/25
I know that the Los Angeles Rams have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl next year (and maybe even the year after) than they do at adding top prospect Travis Hunter in the upcoming NFL Draft, but dream with me. How much fun would it have been if L.A. could somehow add the potential two-way star?
Hunter is recognized for being a (if not the) top wide receiver in the draft, as well as a being a top defensive back prospect. It’s incredible, and he wants to take his talents on both sides of the field to the NFL. Will he be able to pull it off? I feel like the toned up physical AND mental part of the game may be too much for Hunter to play both offense and defense in the same game at the NFL level, but I hope he proves me wrong.
Now, imagine Hunter being on the Rams while working with Sean McVay and Chris Shula. Imagine the Rams using Hunter as a wide receiver for a half, taking a lead, and then unleashing the player on defense, how cool would that be!?!
It’s just fun and we like to have fun around here in these Random Ramsdoms. Comment away, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and happy Thursday! If you are like me, you are off Friday, and that’s just swell.
Top NFL draft prospect Travis Hunter: I’d rather quit football than only play one position (nfl.com)
“Colorado star Travis Hunter plans to play both offense and defense in the NFL. The idea of being pigeonholed to one position might force the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner to consider walking away from football.
“It’s never playing football again,” Hunter recently told CBS Sports if it were suggested he could only play one position. “Because I’ve been doing it my whole life, and I love being on the football field. I feel like I could dominate on each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it.”
It’s a strong message to any team that is considering drafting the dynamite two-way player. The question is whether the threat — however veracious — could make a club reconsider drafting him if it prefers he only plays one side. He didn’t suggest he must play both positions full-time. He could be primarily a wide receiver or cornerback while moonlighting on the other side of the ball for a package of plays.”

Rams’ bold strategy: could drafting James Pearce Jr. create a defensive powerhouse in Los Angeles? (motorcyclesports)
“At the heart of this strategic pivot is the allure of adding explosive talent to an already ascending defensive front. The prospect of drafting James Pearce Jr. in the later stages of the first round stands out as a daring yet compelling option. Pearce Jr. has showcased a remarkable ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks, recording 107 pressures and 21 sacks over the past two seasons. His prowess as a stand-up rusher could serve as the dynamic element needed to complement an emerging duo, enhancing the overall ferocity of the Rams’ pass rush.”

Rams rumors: The perfect trade-down scenario in 2025 NFL Draft (clutchpoints)
“With no pick in Round 2, whatever position the Rams fail to address in Round 1 must be addressed with their late Day 2 picks, which is why a trade-down from No. 26 seems so appetizing,” Solak wrote on Wednesday. “If both [Jahdae] Barron and [Jihaad] Campbell are off the board, I’d strongly expect L.A. to move off the pick.”
Solak explained that while LA has eight picks during the 2025 NFL Draft, their best pick after the first round is 90th overall. That would give the Rams only one shot at adding a talented player during the first two rounds of the draft.
Solak noted that the Rams’ biggest needs are linebacker and cornerback.”
