The Linc – Emmitt Smith says he’s sick of hearing “Go Birds”

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 4/16/25.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Emmitt Smith is Tired of Hearing “Go Birds” – Crossing Broad
Emmitt Smith was on 96.7 The Ticket where he bitched and moaned about being sick of hearing “Go Birds’ everywhere he goes now that the Eagles just won their second Super Bowl. 96.7 The Ticket: “Emmitt how tired do you get about people talking about the drought?”. Emmitt Smith: “I’m sick of it…We have allowed others to come and nitpick at the star and make fun of the star and that’s what happens…now all of a sudden over the last 20 years they win two Super Bowls and they think they’re the best thing on the doggone planet, and everywhere I go I hear, ‘Go Birds.’ I’m sick of hearing, ‘Go Birds.’ I’m always asking where are you going? You still got a long way to go to get to us.”

Jalen Hurts named to Time Magazine’s Top 100 influential people of 2025 list – BGN
The accolades for Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts continue to grow. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was recently named to TIME magazine’s top 100 influential people of 2025 list. Hurts doesn’t draw attention to all the reasons he deserves to be on this list, but from his incredible work ethic to his commitment to the Philadelphia community, the QB has earned respect from those near and far.

10 ‘relatively forgotten’ moments during the Eagles’ Super Bowl season – PhillyVoice
1) Reed Blankenship’s clutch INTs vs. the Packers and Saints. Facing a two-point deficit in the third quarter in Brazil, Blankenship made the pivotal play of the game. Saquon Barkley scored on a TD run on the ensuing possession, and the Eagles never relinquished the lead. Two weeks later, Blankenship ended the game on an INT of Derek Carr. Blankenship kinda had something of an under-the-radar great season.

Update From Howie – Iggles Blitz
The Eagles used to obsess on edge rushers. If you’re old enough, you remember Andy Reid and Jim Johnson talking about fastballs. They wanted fresh legs coming off the bench so they would be able to get after the QB all game long. Things have shifted a bit in recent years. QBs are so good at getting rid of the ball quickly that interior pressure has become more valuable. The Eagles have a good trio of DTs in Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo. They still could go for another one at pick 32. Heck, they could trade up for someone if they feel the player is worth it. The three candidates that make the most sense are Walter Nolen, Kenneth Grant and Derrick Harmon. We haven’t talked much about Harmon, but he is a darn good prospect. He’s a big, athletic, productive interior pass rusher.

Fran’s Monster Mock Draft: ALL seven rounds and ALL 257 picks PLUS in-depth analysis of every Eagles pick – PHLY
64 – PHILADELPHIA EAGLES – TE ELIJAH ARROYO – MIAMI. With how the Dallas Goedert situation has played out in recent weeks, I would be shocked if the tight end position was not addressed somewhere in the first two days of the draft. Arroyo was not reported to come into Philly for a visit, but he’s a dynamic player with high upside. Like Goedert, he is outstanding with the ball in his hands. He’s certainly not the blocker that Goedert is at the point of attack, but few are, and he’s no slouch in the run game either. He stood out at the Senior Bowl (a recurring theme amongst second day picks for this franchise) and has the chance to really outperform this draft slot. So why does he fall? He only had one season where he stayed fully healthy, and it was this last one. Still, the Eagles have shown that they are willing to take chances on medical risks at this stage of the draft. Other players I considered in this spot included NC State offensive lineman Anthony Belton, Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin JR and Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Turner.

2025 NFL draft: How all 32 teams can crush their picks, fill needs – ESPN+
The Eagles walk into the 2025 draft a little needier than in usual years. Were Week 1 tomorrow, they would snap the football with 2023 third-rounder Tyler Steen at right guard (probably OK), 2023 third-rounder Sydney Brown at safety (a little worrisome) and 2023 fourth-rounder Kelee Ringo at outside corner (not ideal — he has had shaky appearances in his first two seasons). It’s not that any individual situation is bad, but the defending champions have to collectively rely on a lot of youth following their free agent exodus. Edge rusher Jalyx Hunt, the 2024 third-rounder who looked delightful throughout the postseason, will likely have to go from playing 50% of the snaps to 75% in Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat’s shoes — that’s a big difference! Moro Ojomo, another young player who looked excellent in a rotation, now has to fill Milton Williams’ role as Jalen Carter’s foil. The Eagles have done well to anticipate these roster holes, and their Super Bowl run was powered by Howie Roseman’s 2024 class — but the more youth you need to rely on, the more volatile your team becomes.

2025 NFL mock draft … with a twist! What every team SHOULD do in Round 1 – NFL.com
Shavon Revel is an athletic freak who could end up hitting huge in the NFL. He has limited experience. He’s coming off an ACL injury. But he’s the kind of player you can work into the lineup slowly and develop into a valuable starter down the road. These are the kinds of moves that made you a champion. Take the leap again here.

Howie Roseman: Dallas Goedert situation “really doesn’t affect” draft decisions – PFT
“The way we look at the draft is it’s a separate entity to anything else that’s going on,” Roseman said, via a transcript from the team. “We’ve got to make good decisions in the draft based on who the players are that are available in the draft. We can’t make up any positions and make them better than they’re not. We have to really have a true process. So, it really doesn’t affect us. We try to do as much as we can at any position in free agency to try to make sure that we’re not in a position where there are needs.” The Eagles have signed Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson as free agents this offseason. Grant Calcaterra remains on hand as well, but the Eagles could be looking for further depth if Goedert is not going to be part of the picture in 2025.

Spadaro: Howie Roseman, Eagles are ready for the 2025 NFL Draft – PE.com
In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Eagles watched as quarterbacks flew off the board early – six of the first 12 selections were quarterbacks, and only five of the first 21 picks were on defensive players, so that when the Eagles started on the clock at Pick No. 22, they had their choice of the top cornerbacks and ended up landing Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell, who enjoyed a sensational rookie season. In very few of the Eagles’ internal mock drafts prior to the actual NFL Draft did Mitchell make it to No. 22. In that instance, Roseman let the draft come to him. In 2022, for example, he was in a let’s-make-some-deals mood and the Eagles benefited greatly with Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis and a trade for Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown in Round 1. “Luck plays a part in it, obviously. Everyone is looking at things differently, everyone has a different vision of what they are looking for for their team,” Roseman said. “Everyone has a different vision for the particular players that they’re looking at. You just hope that you’re trying to make sense for what works for your football team.”

Eagles Autism Foundation has grown into a force to aid those on the spectrum and their families – Inquirer
The Eagles Autism Foundation set a fundraising record in 2024 with $8.1 million, and is already on pace to surpass it this year. The foundation was officially launched in 2019 to centralize the team’s many autism initiatives, and has grown exponentially every year since. Through initiatives like the Eagles Autism Challenge and the team’s annual public practice at Lincoln Financial Field, the foundation raises millions every year, and over time, the players and fans have become more involved.

Why it shouldn’t matter that Micah Parsons reported for voluntary workouts – Blogging The Boys
Perhaps Parsons chose to attend on Monday just of his own accord and independent of any wants or wishes related to his contract. Obviously anything is possible. He deserves an extension. This was true before Monday and is equally true whenever you are reading this, unless it is somehow broken that Parsons has a brand new deal with the team by the time you are. Waiting this long has already cost the team more than if they had shown a level of proactivity as many have called for them to do. Are we to believe that the decision for them to hand out somewhere around $40M per year rests on someone reporting to a voluntary workout? That would be horrible process if it were. It is a good thing that Parsons reported on Monday. Group camaraderie that is built at this time of year is a great thing. It is awesome to see. Now what would be even greater is for any and all distractions of the contract variety to get taken care of. Parsons has done his part. More so now. Time for the Cowboys to do theirs.

Dane Brugler 7-round mock draft: Making QB Jalen Milroe a New York Giant – Big Blue View
Round 2 (No. 34) — Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama. Sanders was taken No. 21 by the Pittsburgh Steelers in Brugler’s draft. The Cleveland Browns at No. 33 took Jaxson Dart. Brugler says: Johnson spent time with the Giants on a top-30 visit earlier this month and would pair nicely with Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the backfield. It also would be a fun reunion for Johnson with Giants running backs coach Ladell Betts, his position coach for the Hawkeyes the past three seasons. Johnson spent time with the Giants on a top-30 visit earlier this month and would pair nicely with Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the backfield. It also would be a fun reunion for Johnson with Giants running backs coach Ladell Betts, his position coach for the Hawkeyes the past three seasons. Valentine’s View: Like many of you did when I took wide receiver Jayden Higgins of Iowa State in this spot a few days ago, I can hear you screaming that this pick has to come from the trenches. The Giants have paid a lot of attention to the running back spot during the pre-draft process, and Johnson’s connection to Betts makes this a logical choice. Just to annoy you, defensive tackle Alfred Collins and offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo were the next two picks.

2 big 2025 NFL Draft questions as we hurtle toward the 1st round – SB Nation
This is our last week before NFL Draft week, which means that things are about to really fall and lock into place or take a twisted turn into chaos and anarchy. Let’s hope for the latter. Honestly any sort of draft-related chaos may not come until next week as someone could be looking to pull a fast one with little time to spare. Everything is about gamesmanship when it comes to this overall process. With questions all over the place and soon-to-be-found answers to them, we here at The Skinny Post, Michael Peterson and RJ Ochoa, are doing our very best to lock in and not get got by anything. We will happy bring you aboard with us.
