The Cornhusker won’t wow anyone, but he could be solid depth down the line.
The Cincinnati Bengals have two big question marks on offense, and it is at both guard positions. After having two of the worst in the league last season, Cincinnati needs to fix that issue that has plagued them.
A big one has been depth at the position as well. One answer there could be Nebraska center Ben Scott, according to Tony Pauline from Sportskeeda:
“Scott, a two-year starter at center and a lineman I’ve liked since his days at Arizona State, will attend the Cardinals’ local pro day and has had meetings with the Bengals and Tampa Bay Bucs.”
Pauline adds that Scott isn’t expected to be drafted, which means he could be an undrafted free agent target.
The Bengals haven’t been strangers to using visits or having contact with players they eventually want to sign after the draft. Sometimes, they like to establish some serious connection with a player before they get bombarded by phone calls from countless teams.
Scott has some versatility to him. He played center the past two years, but the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder could play guard at the next level as well.
He would likely be a player that gets stashed on the practice squad and developed for a couple of seasons. As most people projected to go undrafted he has some 0hysichal tools, but he needs properly developed to get to an NFL level.
