Sean McVay hasn’t ‘done a lot of work’ on QBs for 2025 NFL Draft

Sean McVay seems disinterested in adding a quarterback through the upcoming NFL Draft

Sean McVay spoke at league meetings last week when he shared that he hasn’t been doing much work when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks for the upcoming NFL Draft. There has been plenty of speculation about who the Los Angeles Rams could select to prepare for their future without Matthew Stafford, but if you take McVay at face-value then the Rams may not add a new quarterback at all.

SI.com elaborated further that McVay was asked point blank if the team would want to add another QB through the draft, and McVay’s quote below indicates L.A. is fine with their current room of quarterbacks which include Matthew Stafford, Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett.

Per NBC Sports:

“I think that’s I think that’s unlikely,” McVay said, via SI.com. “I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t done a whole lot of work on the quarterbacks. I feel really good about where our quarterback room is, even though we’re not naive to the fact that Matthew hopefully got a couple more years that he wants to play. But he’s also learned the right to be able to say, ‘after this year, hey, I’m gonna, I’m gonna go ahead and hang them up.’ I’m hopeful that that’s not the case, but I haven’t done enough work to really have an educated opinion on that. That’s not something that I would see us going, but maybe not.”

Despite this, the team met and has reportedly spent a lot of time with Jaxson Dart, so maybe McVay’s just blowing smoke.

Let’s also point out McVay has complete trust in Les Snead and their scouting department, so whether McVay has done “a whole lot of work” or not, the team could still add a new arm through the draft, but there’s also a chance L.A. is fine with who they have, and if that’s the case, then maybe watch for the Rams to look at new potential signal callers next year.

We won’t know how well this quote by McVay holds up until the upcoming draft is completed. Until then, speculate away.
