2025 NFL Mock Draft: Miami Dolphins choose cornerback

With the 13th overall pick in the 2025 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Miami Dolphins GM thehead92 selects …

Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

Let’s start by stating a few facts about the Miami Dolphins … or at the very least some opinions, stated AS facts:

  • Since Mike McDaniel became the HC back in 2022 the Dolphins have gone 28-23 in the regular season with two unconvincing exits in the first round of the playoffs.
  • GM Chris Grier has been with the Dolphins since 2016 and during that 9 year stretch the Dolphins have only made it to the playoffs 3 times (all first-round losses on the road).

But I would argue that the most damaging thing about the Miami Dolphins is that as a team they don’t have an identity. As cool and hip as Mike McDaniel was when he arrived on the scene in south Florida back in 2022, over the past few years the rest of the NFL has exposed the gimmicky style of play; kind of like … fake tans and Jheri curls. They are essentially a track team that fades down the stretch. DO BETTER!

Major needs that need to be addressed in the 2025 NFL Draft:

OLine | CB | iDL

The player

Jahdae Barron has played a lot of outside CB this past year at Texas and had his best college season doing so; he has true positional flexibility and could easily play in the slot as well.

  • Jahdae is a physical corner with very good short area quickness and ability to break on routes; 5 interceptions and 6 PBUs on only 53 targets this year, holding QBs to a 27 QB rating, best in his class
  • Solid run defender and always around the ball, 38 tackles and 8% missed tackle rate are both near the top of his class
  • Played a lot of zone coverage and one of the best given his ability to close quickly, which would be ideal in new DC Anthony Weaver’s (formerly of the Baltimore Ravens) hybrid scheme which requires players to be ‘multiple’
  • Jahdae is an athletic freak – his Next Gen stats give him a 94 overall point score. The only player higher was Travis Hunter at 99, the next closest was Will Johnson at 80 – Imbed attachment if possible (see below)

The person

This young man distinguished himself as the 2024 Jim Thorpe Award recipient along with countless other awards during his time at Texas.

Jahdae is described as a high character teammate who brings some ‘juice’ and identity. All you need to do is put on the tape of any Texas Longhorn game and the energy and fire Jahdae brings is unmistakable and something that the Dolphins could really use in 2025.

Player comp

Philly’s very own Cooper DeJean

Don’t overthink the pick if this player is available with the 13th pick, put your sunglasses in your pocket, slick back your hair and run that card up to Roger Goodell.

Thank you for reading this, it was a pleasure writing it. If you agree/disagree, light me up in the comment section, I would expect nothing less.

I can’t thank the Bleeding Green Nation community enough and BLG in particular for the countless hours of enjoyment we all get here. Fly EAGLES Fly!
