With the 13th overall pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select…
Will Johnson, cornerback out of Michigan
Here’s nrs001 explaining the pick:
Dolphins brought in some names like Westbrook-Ikhine WR, Daniels G, and Melifonwu S during free agency. They still have some holes at guard, cornerback, and safety. 13 is a little to rich to be taking a guard. The Dolphins cut ties with Kendall Fuller this offseason leaving a hole across from Jalen Ramsey. With a run on WR and OT this allowed the board to fall favorably for the Dolphins. Travis Hunter may end up being the top cornerback, however this allowed both Will Johnson and Jahdae Barron to both fall to the Dolphins.
The Dolphins selected cornerback Will Johnson and here is why. He is a big corner with smooth hips. He’s not afraid to play press on the line. He’s got pretty good instincts. With Ramsey and Johnson, the Dolphins could have two top-tier cornerbacks that could lock down the outside for the next few seasons. Dolphins can look to fill some of the other needs later in the draft. The Dolphins will be chasing the Bills in this division. Having two top-tier cornerbacks will put them in a good spot to chase the top of their division.
