With the 11th pick in the Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the 49ers select…

It’s the San Francisco 49ers’ pick in our 2025 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft.

It’s been a wild offseason for the 49ers. While most of their core pieces remain intact, there was significant attrition across the rest of the team’s roster. While I don’t necessarily think the 49ers are in complete rebuild, they definitely are worse off than they were last year, and it’s going to take some serious general managing to get their roster back to that of a championship-level squad.

Tasked with that endeavor in our POD Community Mock is commenter KCPhoenix_11. The 49ers have the 11th pick in the draft. To see who went in the top 10, check out our 2025 POD Community Mock Draft tracker, where you can see each pick, click on the name for the full breakdown, and see how POD commenters are grading each pick.

With the 11th pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the 49ers select…

Shemar Stewart, edge defender from Texas A&M.

Here’s KCPhoenix_11 with the explanation for the pick:

Going into the process, the needs were all over the place. The team lost several high-level starters as part of a retooling effort while preparing to pay Brock Purdy. I was particularly focused on adding an offensive tackle to protect the future, highly paid franchise QB. Unfortunately, two of the top OL prospects were already off the board, which I had anticipated. Defensive tackle was another pressing need with no clear starter, but with no standout option at 11, I felt the position could be addressed in the later rounds, given the class’s strong depth. With that in mind, I opted for the best player available (BPA).

With the 11th pick in the Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select EDGE Shemar Stewart from Texas A&M.

As I mentioned earlier regarding the defensive tackle class, the same applies to the EDGE position. There’s a variety of options, and you’ve got to pick your preference. While it may not be the safest bet with the 11th pick, I went for the BPA upside play. I’m willing to take the risk. Shemar Stewart has all the physical traits you could ask for, with many drawing comparisons to Myles Garrett in terms of his potential. Myles Garrett at 11th overall is a no-brainer.

The issue, however, is that while he’s drawn comparisons to Garrett, he remains raw and lacked production during his time at Texas A&M. After consulting with my scouts (forums), watching his tape (Youtube), and doing my own research (Google), it seems there’s a strong belief that he was misused by Texas A&M’s staff. This suggests that his development may have been hindered. That said, by all accounts, he has a great work ethic and a relentless motor. The hope is that we can develop him into a premier EDGE rusher, pairing him alongside Bosa.
