Thankfully, the L.A. Rams won’t be featured on Hard Knocks for a while
The Rams have been on Hard Knocks more than once in the last eight years and thankfully they won’t be the belle of HBO’s ball in 2025. The NFL did change its rules for which teams could be featured on Hard Knocks this year, specifically allowing teams that just made the the playoffs to be selected for the training camp reality show, but the Rams won’t be one of those eligible franchises.
That’s because any team featured on Hard Knocks in the last eight years is exempt from being selected.
The NFL wanted to highlight the Rams in 2016 when they moved to Los Angeles and they hit them up again during the Covid year in 2020. Under the new rules, the Rams should be exempt from Hard Knocks until at least 2029.
The NFL will also exempt teams that will be featured on the in-season Hard Knocks edition for that division, which was the AFC North in 2024. The division for 2025 hasn’t been selected yet.
NFL chief media and business officer Brian Rolapp mentioned on Monday how the league has liberalized its rules for Hard Knocks. Here is the full rule—the “non-playoff” requirement has been removed to compel a team.

All three other NFC West teams — the 49ers, Seahawks, and Cardinals — will be eligible unless the NFC West is selected for in-season Hard Knocks.
The Rams have been over-worked on Hard Knocks. That won’t happen this year. Unless, again, the NFL chooses the NFC West for in-season edition. I guess it never ends.
