Colorado quarterback could possibly be there at No. 6
We know the Las Vegas Raiders will very likely draft a quarterback at some point of the April 24-26 draft.
We don’t know if they will still consider taking one at No. 6 overall after they acquired veteran Geno Smith in a trade.
We don’t know if they like Shedeur Sanders of Colorado at all.
So, yes, there are a lot ifs involved on the Raiders side. But, there are ifs on the other side.
Sanders has been a much-discussed prospect and there are reports some teams like him are the top of the first round, while others view Son of Deion as a second-round prospect for various reasons.
But, if the Raiders really would take a quarterback at the No. 6 pick and they do like Sanders, the possibility may be there.
The New York Giants, of course, recently signed veteran quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, which puts into question whether they will take a quarterback at No. 3. There are reports that they are still, indeed, interested in addressing the position early. because both Wilson and Winston are short-term answers. Still, New York could wait a year and give Wilson more to work with in the first round, such as Sanders’ Colorado teammate Travis Hunter if he’s available.
So, the Giants’ recent moves make it plausible that Sanders could be sitting there at No. 6 when the Raiders pick. Of course, this is all assuming the Tennessee Titans take Miami quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1, the Cleveland Browns don’t take a quarterback at No. 2 and there are no trade ups at No. 4 and No. 5.
So, the intrigue is still there, but the Giants’ new decision could affect the Raiders’ choice three picks later. Sign up and go to the comments section.
