Mike McDaniel said the plan is to have Tyreek Hill on the roster in 2025, but it is the NFL, and stranger things have happened! #FinsUp
The NFL, like most sports, is filled with uncertainty and drama.
Like in Week 18, when game-changing wide receiver Tyreek Hill quit on his team late, in what would be a disappointing loss to the New York Jets. Hill then went on to demand a trade after the game (See, a soap opera!), and trade speculation has run rampant for months. I already said I would trade Hill, but I understand that way too many factors go into the decision.
For example, Head Coach Mike McDaniel and General Manager Chris Grier should be on the hot seat with a crucial 2025 in the crosshairs. Is it wise to trade away one of the best players in the entire NFL, one of whom you built your entire offense around, for draft capital that will fall short of what you gave up to acquire the player?
Not to mention, you may only get draft capital in next year’s draft, which does what to better the team in 2025? I talk myself in circles, thinking about what the Dolphins should do, but it appears McDaniel is doubling down on what he said when he and Grier met with the media back in February.
Here’s what McDaniel said about Hill at the 2025 NFL league meetings, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe:::
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said they are “fully planning to move forward” with Tyreek Hill on team in 2025. He notes he has no reason to think otherwise and expects a great version of Tyreek/relationship with team.

Hill, 31, joined the Dolphins back in March 2022 when Miami traded away a 2022 first-round draft pick, a 2022 second-round draft pick, two fourth-round picks, and a 2023 sixth-round draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for the out-of-this-world playmaker. He would have two of his best seasons ever catching passes from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He even came close to breaking Megatron’s record and had been voted the No.1 player in the NFL by his peers.
Everything was sunshine and roses, and then the 2024 NFL season happened. More specifically, in Week 18, when he quit on his team and suggested he wanted out. Which, despite Hill’s constant trolling on social media, was how he genuinely felt in the heat of the moment.
I felt like it was inexcusable. But honestly, all that matters is how the rest of the locker room feels towards #10. If he truly did apologize to his teammates, to the leaders of the team like Zach Sieler, Calais Campbell (#BabyComeBack), Tua Tagovailoa, Terron Armstead, Jalen Ramsey, and the rest of the locker room, then who am I to say it’s wrong? I’m just a fan.
My biggest concern, if a trade doesn’t go down, is whether or not things eventually boil over if the Dolphins have a slow start to the season, or, god forbid, something happens to our Hawaiian prince. Will Hill act like a prima donna once more?
Those are my concerns, and yet, none of that matters. Because, as of today, Hill is Miami’s WR1 heading into the 2025 NFL Season. He will now hope to have a season more like 2022 and 2023 than what we saw last year, but even still, there’s always a chance a team comes calling with an offer the Dolphins can not refuse.
What are your thoughts on Tyreek Hill’s inevitable return to the Miami Dolphins in 2025? Do you wish the team could find a trade partner willing to part with a day two pick? How do you think the team will eventually transition away from Hill? Let us know in the comments section below!
