In a world where you’re trying to build a roster to win football games, lots of games against good and bad teams, yes, you trade him. In a world where you’re building an entertainment product, no. He can do things with the ball in his hands that not many others can. That draws eyeballs and entertains fans.
Note: If he’s traded to the Bills for anything less than Josh Allen, somebody needs to be arrested, investigated, tried, and convicted.
FinsRegard is against trading him as he does carry the offense.
Hill had 2 great seasons here.Last year it was said his wrist was hurt, kept playing .Hill leaves and now Waddle or Smith is double teamed? When the Dolphins got Hill I could not believe it , unlike Suh Hill produced at the very highest level.Is it logical that with Miami not having won a playoff game for 25 years it would trade its best player, a player who carried the offense for 2 seasons?Hill was a star in KC and here in Miami to the point the camera followed him during the game.
Dolfanjoe is correct about the financial ramifications. Even if they trade him next season, they would be wise to make him a post-June 1st cut.
To trade Hill this season means we are going to eat a whole bunch of money. Next year not so much ! What is his value to a team needing a speed wide out who can make a difference ? And of course getting good trade value for him still means we have to replace him with something. Keep Hill unless the trade is just incredible ! Put a better running game on the field and it will open back up our passing game. Wow basic football, who ‘da thunk it !
EJPLAYA says no because he carries a giant dead money hit this season. Per OTC, if he were traded before June 1st, the dead money would be $28,297,500 (almost 600K more than his cap hit otherwise). A post-June 1st trade would result in $12,728,750 in dead money and a savings against the cap of $14,970,000. The numbers get much better next off-season for both scenarios. Fifty-six million dollars in dead money would only apply if he were to be cut before June 1st.
Hill carries a 57 million dead cap hit this season. Never going to happen. If that weren’t the case I’d trade him for a low 2nd and 3rd to the cowboys for sure. 44th and 77th pick? We could get a high potential wr and a top guard with that money. Can’t take that dead cap hit though.

When your agent demands a raise from 25M per year to 30+M per year, then you had better perform. He did not. I am still pissed he did not go after his own fumble early in the year.

Pulling himself out of the final game, which was out of reach and most of the team had also given up, is what a petulant child does. OK, so he is a child in a man’s body. But, when he is winning, he appears to be a very supportive and enthusiastic team mate.
Is it a distraction… sure. Is it a constant distraction… not really. Not enough in my opinion to warrant a seat on the Diggs Train from Barfalo. But, if the Texans came a-callin with some trade bait, I would answer the phone.

We need all the help we can get, and if the price for that is trading Hill, I think it’s a price worth paying – if we can get good value for the deal.

I can’t see any team proffering an acceptable amount in a trade. Hill is expensive, noisy and after last season, it is reasonable to question if He has lost a step.
Hill fixed Tua (statistically and monetarily), make no mistake about it.
That being said, the core of Hill, Tua, McD, Grier, Waddle need to ride out 2025. They are all in it together for a final season. Let’s see how they respond to that unseen level of pressure.
2025 should be very interesting for all things off the field and Hill is the Ring Leader. It is just the reality We are facing for another season.

I don’t care that much about Hill the polarizing figure, but I wouldn’t mind trading him if the price was right. He had an off year, and maybe that was because of injury, but it’s not exactly unheard of for a 30-year-old wideout to have an off year and then come back and have more off years and then retire. I don’t put his stock as ihigh right now as it was before ‘24.
I’d rather be wrong and have him come back and play like ‘22 and ‘23 again than be right. He’s fun to watch.

That’s our random ten comments. The consensus is that if the return is good/excellent, pull the trigger and send him packing. His dead money would be big either before or after June 1st, but sometimes, like Denver did with Russel Wilson, it’s best to eat the big hit in one season and get it off the books for the future. Either way, I assume he will be here through at least this season, with it being much more cost-effective to trade or cut him next off-season.
