Packers’ “tush push” proposal gets “mixed” reaction from Competition Committee – PFT
The Packers have proposed a rule change that would attack the so-called “tush push.” With the annual league meetings only days away, it’s looking like there’s not nearly enough of a push to get 24 total owners to vote for the proposal. On Tuesday, Mark Maske of the Washington Post posted this on Twitter: “It’s unclear whether the Packers’ proposed ban of the tush push will get the 24 votes among the 32 NFL owners necessary to be approved, source says: ‘Not sure it can get 24.’ The sentiment is mixed on the NFL competition committee about the proposal. The owners meet next week.” Frankly, the fate of the proposal looks more than “unclear.” If the “sentiment” in the Competition Committee is “mixed,” that’s not a good sign for securing a supermajority when it’s time for the owners to vote on the change.
Eagles host Eagles edge rusher on pre-draft visit – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles are hosting Boston College Eagles edge rusher and Williamstown, New Jersey native Donovan Ezeiruaku on a pre-draft visit, according to a report from SportsRadio 94WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks. Ezeiruaku has been a popular mock draft pick for the Birds with their first-round pick at No. 32 overall. He’s the No. 16 prospect ranked by Pro Football Focus and the No. 28 by Daniel Jeremiah.

Round 1, pick 32: Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon (6’5, 313). Harmon had a breakout season at Oregon after transferring from Michigan State. In 2024, he had 45 tackles (11 for loss), 5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 4 batted passes. He’s quick, powerful, stout, and has good awareness when playing the run. Also, notice his versatility to play up and down the line in the following highlight reel. Although he only had 8.5 career sacks, his natural athleticism is going to eventually translate to better sack production. I don’t love pressures as a stat because it’s so subjective, but he apparently led the NCAA with 55 pressures. If you watch his highlights against Ohio State, for example, he was around the quarterback all day, but was just unable to finish. The Eagles have a clear need on the interior of their defensive line with Milton Williams leaving in free agency.

DL Calais Campbell. A big theme of the Eagles’ offseason has been getting younger and relying on draft picks … so this move would definitely buck that trend. Campbell is 38 and has already played 17 seasons in the NFL. He’s not a Pro Bowler anymore but Campbell has played every game over the last two years and he has been productive with 11 1/2 combined sacks in 2023 and 2024. Campbell likely wouldn’t cost much (his one-year deal with the Dolphins in 2024 was worth $2 million) and he would bolster the Eagles’ depth at defensive tackle with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo. And if Campbell wants to hunt for a ring, who better to join than the defending Super Bowl champs?
2025 NFL free agency class rankings: Most improved rosters – ESPN+
I loved: The dart throws. It was never going to be a big year for free agent acquisition, as the Eagles needed to retain Baun and take their lumps elsewhere. To account for the departure of pass rusher Josh Sweat, both Uche and Ojulari were signed. Each has had splashy seasons recently and could shine in a star-studded rotation. Tight end Dallas Goedert might be traded, so the Eagles signed Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson. Return man Britain Covey and cornerback Darius Slay are gone, but Adoree’ Jackson (a veteran corner and return man) represents a two-for-one swing. This is how a team without much cash wins in free agency — by investing in the margins and filling needs before draft time.
2025 NFL Draft: Six win-win first-round trades teams should make – NFL.com
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman took a year off from trading up in the first round in 2024. … Can he really stop himself from getting back in the mix this April? Maybe. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he climbs the board for one of this year’s top receivers or to add more pieces to Philly’s stellar defensive line. The Day 2 pick he’d send to L.A. wouldn’t be a deterrent because he could pick up more assets in separate deals later during the weekend. Rams GM Les Snead and coach Sean McVay have had a ton of success finding contributors on Days 2 and 3, so securing extra capital while only moving down six slots could be right in their wheelhouse. L.A. is positioned to take the best available player at the end of the first round, though I imagine they’ll have their eye on which DBs are still available at No. 32.
Bowen: The Eagles’ long, hard climb to the Super Bowl pinnacle didn’t leave us much time to admire the view – PHLY
Brady was technically proficient. But from about the second quarter on, he seemed to see the game almost exclusively through the lens of how Mahomes was feeling, what Mahomes needed to do. This was understandable, given that Mahomes is Brady’s successor as the NFL’s top QB. There is a strong connection. It certainly didn’t enhance the viewing experience, though, for people who weren’t obsessed with Mahomes, or rooting for Kansas City. Also, in rewatching, something I’d noted at the time really smacked me in the face. As the blowout mounted, Burkhardt and Brady kept heaping praise on how the Chiefs were limiting Barkley and the Eagles’ running game, talking about how this was what the Chiefs vowed to do. This is called missing the entire point. See, Kevin and Tom, the fact that the Chiefs were doing the main thing they set out to do AND WERE STILL GETTING BLOWN OFF THE FIELD should have told you this was a historic mismatch.
The Eagles championship season is getting a Philadelphia Orchestra soundtrack at the Mann this summer – Inquirer
Fly, Orchestra Fly. The Philadelphia Orchestra will extend the city’s Eagles euphoria and give it a soundtrack this summer at the Mann Center. In an evening dubbed “A Championship Season,” the orchestra is celebrating the team’s Super Bowl win with an Eagles-themed concert. Details are still falling into place, but Eagles announcer Merrill Reese will host the July 24 concert, and Anthony Parnther will conduct. “Obviously we’re at a time where we need to be celebrating things in life, and there’s no better way to keep the excitement of the Eagles season going, especially as they head into the next season,” said Toby Blumenthal, the Mann’s vice president of programming. “It builds momentum for the fan experience, it builds momentum for players.”

Cowboys have only extended two first-round picks in first year of eligibility over last decade – Blogging The Boys
An NFL player is first eligible for an extension after their third year of service. Looking back at the 2011 CBA, that means that the first drafted player for the Cowboys to be eligible for an extension for the first time in their career was Tyron Smith in 2014. You likely remember that Dallas signed Tyron to an eight-year deal in the summer of 2014 that became a fountain of salary cap space for them over the ensuing years. It was a visionary type of contract, and that the Cowboys got it done at Smith’s first point of eligibility was a true act of financial brilliance. Since then, we have seen the Cowboys be rather shy with getting ahead of the curve on players drafted in the first round specifically. Only Travis Frederick and Ezekiel Elliott received their extensions from the team at their first point of eligibility, and the latter had to hold out in order to make it happen.
5 ‘things I think’ after the New York Giants signing of Russell Wilson – Big Blue View
It is interesting that Schoen was in Louisville to watch Tyler Shough at his Pro Day on Tuesday. And that Chris Pflum’s deep dive into Shough posted Wednesday morning at Big Blue View. It’s almost like we planned it that way. There will be some focus in the upcoming weeks on the idea of the Giants drafting Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, perhaps even trading back into Round 1 for him. I could see Dart being the pick if he is still on the board at No. 34, but, again, with the focus on 2025 I think Schoen is going to be loathe to give up valuable assets for a quarterback who would not be expected to help them in 2025.
What the Russell Wilson signing means for New York Giants in 2025 NFL Draft – SB Nation
However, there is a long way to go, and a lot of football left to be played. Sure the Giants could wait for 2026, but if that group of prospects does not pan out, you have lost an opportunity to have a QB in the building and learning for a year, and now the cycle will begin anew. Of course, this line of thinking assumes that a quarterback — Sanders if we believe the smoke around Tennessee — is available. Should the Browns surprise everyone and the draft begins QB-QB, we can circle back to the first two options. But if a QB is available, adding Wilson and Winston should not preclude the Giants from drafting a quarterback. Ultimately, this part of the analysis might depend on just how confident Schoen is about his own job security. Would he draft a player with an eye towards 2026, if he might not be there to reap the reward?
