Rams GM Les Snead was at Texas’ Pro Day and the team has a top-30 meeting set with Isaiah Bond
It’s no secret that the Los Angeles Rams have a connection to the Texas Longhorns football program. Rams general manager Les Snead’s stepson Tate Haver is a long-snapper for the Longhorns and following his first season, the Rams drafted wide receiver Jordan Whittington in the sixth round.
This is another loaded draft class, especially when it comes to Texas. The Longhorns had the second-most players this year at the NFL Combine with 14 behind only Ohio State. Texas held their Pro Day on Tuesday and Rams general manager Les Snead was in attendance.

There will be plenty of options if the Rams once again want to dive into the Texas pipeline. Snead doesn’t typically travel to these events, making his presence at Texas’ Pro Day that much more interesting
Snead was caught talking with both Arch Manning and Ryan Wingo as well as Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte. While Manning and Wingo aren’t draft eligible in 2025, it is possible that Snead was looking to get some information from them on some of their teammates.

This is especially noteworthy considering that Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond is set to have a top-30 visit with the Rams before the draft. Despite bringing back Tutu Atwell for one year, the Rams could still look to add another speedy wide receiver to take that role next season.
In the past, the Rams have drafted for future needs a year in advance in order to prepare for potential free agents leaving. Bond is a dynamic athlete with the explosiveness and speed to run past defenders, especially vertically. He also brings an element after the catch that the Rams lacked in 2024. Bond does lack physicality which limits his effect as a blocker in the run game and his ability in contested catch situations.

Other potential options that the Rams could have interest in would be Jahdae Barron, Matthew Golden, Gunnar Helm, Andrew Mukuba, Quinn Ewers, and others. Barron fills a need on defense, especially at the STAR role while Matthew Golden provides a playmaking ability on the outside at wide receiver.
If the Rams are looking to find an heir for Tyler Higbee, Gunnar Helm makes a lot of sense. In that same lens, Ewers could be a backup option behind Matthew Stafford. The Rams seem to be set at safety, but they always seem to be adding to that position group. Andrew Mukuba would give the Rams a physical presence at safety that they have missed at times.
However, the fact that the Rams have a pre-draft meeting set with Bond is especially interesting. Bond is currently projected as a third or fourth round pick and is the 70th ranked player on the consensus big board. If the Rams are extremely high on Bond, he is a player that they could trade back for at 26 to the 45-50 range and still take while picking up more selections later.
When it comes to pre-draft meetings, they could mean something or they could mean nothing. Throughout the draft process, there are a lot of smokescreens from teams, making it difficult to know what direction the Rams might be leaning. However, given the Rams’ connection to Texas, this is certainly something to note.
