Eagles host veteran offensive tackle on free agent visit

Philadelphia is looking at a potential swing tackle replacement.

The Philadelphia Eagles hosted free agent offensive tackle Kendall Lamm on a free agent visit at the NovaCare Complex on Monday, according to the NFL’s transaction wire.

Lamm, who turns 33 in June, originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2015. Since then, he’s logged 45 starts in 127 career games played (including playoffs) for the combination of the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, and Miami Dolphins.

Lamm most recently made seven starts for the Dolphins in 2024. He ranked 33rd out of 85 offensive tackles graded by Pro Football Focus last season. Over the course of his career, he’s often graded out better as a pass protector than a run blocker.

Lamm is coming off a season-ending back injury that reportedly required surgery. The Eagles may have brought him to Philly to check up on his medical situation.

Assuming no major medical red flags, signing Lamm makes sense for the Eagles since Philly just lost swing tackle Fred Johnson to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Lamm has extensive playing at both left and right tackle.

Here are his career snap counts by position:

Left tackle — 1,003
Left guard — 1
Right tackle — 1,731

And by season:

2015 — LT 1, RT 116
2016 — LT 40, RT 26
2017 — LT 129
2018 — LT 1, RT 927
2019 — LT 3, LG 1, RT 78
2020 — LT 129, RT 50
2021 — LT 78
2022 — LT 32
2023 — LT 520, RT 93
2024 — LT 70, RT 441

The Eagles signing Lamm wouldn’t preclude them from adding an offensive tackle in the 2025 NFL Draft who could compete for the swing tackle role. But it would give them some valuable veteran depth in case a rookie (or someone else unproven like Darian Kinnard) doesn’t step up and seize that job.

We’ll just have to wait and see if the Eagles actually end up signing Lamm or not.
