Both Higgins and Chase will be in the Queen City for the foreseeable future.
Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins are all in Cincinnati without any contract drama on the horizon. That sounds like the dream, and it was the dream a few weeks ago.
Thankfully, that is now the reality of the Bengals‘ situation.
All eyes will now be focused on the team’s defense and how they can improve on that side of the ball, but Burrow has his playmakers locked up for the long-term future.
Those negotiations have been looming over the Bengals for years, and this offseason, they got them done. Let’s just say Burrow was grateful that this is how the situation played out and that the front office stepped up at the right time.
“They’re two of the best players at what they do. When you can re-sign guys like that and keep them around for an extended period of time, that gives you the best chance to go out and win Super Bowls and win a lot of games and win division championships. We got two of our best players re-signed. That’s a big deal. Plus, Mike G. We’re doing the right things,” Burrow said via Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson.
Burrow, who made history himself when he signed his contract extension, will be with the Bengals for the next several seasons. The Bengals Super Bowl window has stayed open, but without a competent defensive and strong offensive line, they may still struggle to compete, as was evidenced by last season.
Nonetheless, keeping Burrow, who was at LSU with Chase and has clearly grown a close relationship with Higgins, happy should’ve been a priority for the Bengals. Having played at an MVP level last season, he should have all the tools to win the award this upcoming year.
Seems like all is rocking in Cincinnati, and with the draft coming up, making more moves to potentially add defensive depth will be key.
