Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Five players who make sense for the Eagles during the second wave of free agency – PhillyVoice
Calais Campbell (38), DT, Dolphins (6’8, 307). Campbell is 38 years old, but still productive. He had 36 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 2022 with Baltimore, 56 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 2023 with Atlanta, and 52 tackles and 5 sacks with Miami in 2024. For what it’s worth, PFF had Campbell graded as the 7th best defensive lineman in the NFL last season, and Dolphins fans seemed to love him. Campbell is a versatile lineman who can play on the edge or on the interior, and the Eagles could use more depth at both spots, especially with Brandon Graham’s retirement and Milton Williams leaving in free agency. Campbell doesn’t have a Super Bowl on his résumé, so if he’s ring hunting maybe he sees the fit and would be willing to play in Philly for one last season at a reasonable price? Howie Roseman was been clear that he wants to add young players, but with an interior line group made up entirely of players on their rookie contracts, there’s room for one old head, especially one who can maybe share some wisdom with the young bucks.
S Julian Blackmon. The Eagles shipped out versatile safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson earlier this month as part of a number of defensive departures. Blackmon is a proven baller, needs a job and deserves a chance to play for a contender. Vic Fangio is also a proven expert at fitting versatile players like Blackmon into the perfect roles and maximizing the return. This pairing almost feels too obvious. We can’t keep letting the Eagles get away with this!
Everybody loves Brandon Graham – BGN
He was one of us. He has always been one of us. He just had to come to Philadelphia to realize it. He’s a Philadelphia Eagles legend. He’s earned the right to be called that. He’s responsible for one of the most iconic plays in Philadelphia sports history—and incredibly, does so much more off the field. You always know he’s in the room by his contagious, bellowing laugh, and his infectious personality. Everybody loves Brandon Graham. And after anyone meets him, they come away feeling the affection is reciprocated. That is why it was so hard to say goodbye this week when Graham announced his retirement after 15 seasons with the Eagles.
What it was like to cover Brandon Graham’s legendary career – NBCSP
The Super Bowl had just ended about a half hour before I walked off the field at the Superdome. It was still covered in green and white confetti. And as I began to make my way through the tunnel toward the Eagles locker room, I ran into Brandon Graham. The Eagles’ legend and longest-tenured player had apparently re-torn his triceps during the 40-22 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX but that did nothing to quell his giant, sheepish grin. I knew what was coming. “You believe now!?” Graham barked my way before breaking into his signature laugh. I never played in the NFL — obviously. But I do know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of Graham’s infamous trash talk. No one is better at it and no one had more fun delivering it during his career than Graham.
The 8 NFL free-agent signings with the best chance to outproduce their contracts – The Athletic
Joshua Uche, edge, Philadelphia Eagles. 2025 cash: $1.92 million. The Eagles were the clear winners of free agency in 2024. It is no coincidence they went on to win the Super Bowl. Philadelphia received above-average AV per million returns on several free agents, including linebacker Zack Baun (4.0), running back Saquon Barkley (1.2) and guard Mekhi Becton (1.5). Baun was in the top 10 in AV per million after transitioning to off-ball linebacker and having a breakout All-Pro season. If the Eagles are going to hit big on a 2025 free agent value signing like they did with Baun last year, Uche is a good bet. He is cheap. He had an 11 1/2-sack season with the Patriots in 2022. He will be playing alongside one of the best defensive tackles in football in Jalen Carter. And we saw in 2024 what kind of impact Carter had on his teammates, including Williams and edge rusher Josh Sweat, both of whom left in free agency. The big question with Uche is whether he can earn playing time in a deep edge rusher room in Philly. Nolan Smith Jr., Bryce Huff and Jalyx Hunt all return. The Eagles also signed Azeez Ojulari to a one-year deal in free agency.
What Hunt considered a tribute to Eagles Hall of Fame edge rusher Trent Cole and his own last name was deemed a “violent gesture” worthy of a $5,690 fine by the league. Outraged Eagles fans on X, including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Rob McElhenney, offered to pay the fine for Hunt, a token of their appreciation for the Super Bowl-winning pass rusher. But the 24-year-old Hunt had another cause in mind that was more worthy of their generosity. His hair stylist, Crystal Russell, had shared a post on Instagram about a fundraiser by Barbers Who Care, a nonprofit organization of barbers based in the Philadelphia area that supports underserved and marginalized communities. The group, founded by barber Kenny Duncan, was raising money for Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School and its upcoming out-of-state trip to visit college campuses.
Eagles believe expanded regular-season overtime will add 30 total plays per season – PFT
The proposal, which seemed last month to be destined to be made by the Competition Committee and not by any one team, isn’t expected to result in a significant uptick in snaps, if passes. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Eagles believe the adoption of the postseason two-guaranteed-possessions rule along with a 15-minute overtime will add only 30 plays per year. The extra plays will happen only if/when a game goes to overtime and the team that receives the opening kickoff scores a touchdown on the first drive. But what about the possibility of a pair of touchdowns and a third drive? It’s believed that the team that scores a touchdown on the second drive of overtime will go for two in lieu of giving the other team an opportunity to win the game with a field goal. So there typically won’t be a third drive, if the first two result in touchdowns.
’We all share that brotherhood’: Azeez Ojulari ready to play with Georgia teammates again – PE.com
Although he is joining former Giants’ teammates Saquon Barkley, Adoree’ Jackson, and Patrick Johnson, outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari will have plenty more familiar faces beyond them in Philadelphia. Azeez, a former Georgia Bulldog, joins his former collegiate teammates Jalen Carter, Lewis Cine, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Kelee Ringo, and Nolan Smith. “It’s amazing having that chemistry and brotherhood with those guys, it’s just amazing to come back here and just keep it going on,” Ojulari said during his virtual press conference at the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday. “We got so many Georgia guys here. Nolan (Smith), that’s my brother for real. All of them are my brothers, but Nolan, since we’ve been in the same room since Georgia, I’m probably more close with him. But I’m close with all of them – we all share that brotherhood and the relationship we have is amazing. I’m ready to be here now.”
The Washington Commanders have announced the signing of former Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup. He visited last Tuesday, and has now officially joined the team. Gallup(6’1”, 198 lbs) retired last July after signing a 1-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders in July. The Raiders released him from their reserve/retired list to allow him to sign with another team this year. Gallup suffered a torn ACL at the end of the 2021 season, and his production never returned to its pre-injury level.
2025 NFL Draft: 3 players who could be surprise first-round picks for Cowboys – Blogging The Boys
TE Tyler Warren, Penn State. It’s no secret the Dallas Cowboys have been zeroing in on potential wide receivers who could come in and help take pressure off of CeeDee Lamb. There’s a very real possibility they could have their pick of the best WRs in the 2025 draft class with the 12th overall pick in the first-round. But, what if they’re targeting a different kind of player who would also pair nicely with No. 88 as well as being an even more dynamic and versatile playmaker. Tyler Warren was a do-it-all offensive weapon during his time at Penn State and actually makes sense for the Cowboys in the first-round. Whether in-line, split out, or as a gadget player he can be utilized in a variety of ways to improve Dallas’ offense. And, with Jake Ferguson entering a contract year with no one behind him who’s shown starting potential, Warren could be an intriguing surprise selection with the 12th overall pick in the first-round.
2025 NFL free agency: Experts debate best, worst signings – ESPN
Which team has taken a step backward? Mike Tannenbaum, NFL front office insider: The Dallas Cowboys. Though some of their signings will add depth and talent to their roster (running backs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, in particular), they lost quality players — Jourdan Lewis, DeMarcus Lawrence, Rico Dowdle and Zack Martin. However, the Cowboys’ most fundamental mistake was not signing Micah Parsons sooner. Now that the defensive end market has been “reset” by $6 million more per year because of Myles Garrett’s new contract, Dallas once again will pay a premium after waiting to commit to a star.
A lot can happen between now and when the New York Giants are on the clock with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night, April 24. As of right now, though, NFL insider Adam Schefter believes that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will ultimately end up being selected by the New York Giants. Schefter said on ‘GetUp’ that the Cleveland Browns, who pick No. 2, want Miami quarterback Cam Ward. The belief, though, is that the Titans are leaning toward selecting Ward No. 1 overall. If that happens, Schefter believes the Browns would pass on Sanders.
Think of Miami QB Cam Ward as a player who is in Minecraft creative mode on the hardest mods. After a college football career that spanned stops at FCS Incarnate Word and Washington State, Ward turned a phenomenal season at Miami into potentially being the first player picked off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. After taking a look at what Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders brings to the table, let’s look at Ward and what he can be at the next level. What immediately stands out about Ward is his feel for playmaking and productivity outside the pocket. If every QB has a superpower, Ward’s is his ability to extend plays. Despite not being a dominant or overwhelming athlete by any means, Ward has an innate ability to make nothing into something late in the down and do the creative stuff we talked about in Minecraft. On 69 attempts outside the pocket, Ward is first among draft-eligible QBs such as Sanders, Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Louisville’s Tyler Shough in Boom Rate, meaning plays that end with an EPA over one on the play. His knack for the incredible outside the pocket shows up under pressure as well, where he uses that athleticism to make throws like this one.
