Two ESPN analysts said Adams to L.A. was the best free agency move this offseason
The Los Angeles Rams have rightfully been praised in the media after signing Davante Adams in free agency. NFL.com columnist Jeffri Chadiha listed the Rams’ acquisition of Adams as the third best move of the offseason so far. ESPN was the latest outlet to commend L.A. for its efforts in bringing the star wide receiver back to Southern California.
League experts debated the best and worst signings during the 2025 free agency period in ESPN’s March 21 article. Analyst Matt Bowen was first to praise the Rams for finding an upgrade over Cooper Kupp, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks last week:
“The Rams signing wide receiver Davante Adams. He’s an upgrade over Cooper Kupp on his new two-year deal, as Adams can get loose against press coverage and create separation to the ball. Opposite Puka Nacua, Adams can win one-on-one as the “X” receiver, plus he will be schemed to attack zone voids off motion and in play-action. This is a really good fit for Sean McVay’s offense.”
Adams joins an L.A. team that nearly defeated the mighty Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round. His overall body of work and five straight 1,000-yard seasons will hopefully bring more consistency to Hollywood that the offense had lacked with Kupp struggling to stay healthy.
Reporter Lindsey Thiry felt that Matthew Stafford will have a powerful, dynamic duo to throw to, which might boost the Rams’ chances at advancing far in the postseason:
“The Rams signing Adams. After retaining Matthew Stafford with a reworked contract, the addition of Adams provides Stafford a 1-2 punch along with Nacua. For a team that missed the NFC Championship Game by a mere play last season, the addition of Adams should be enough to help bring another deep playoff run.”
On the surface, Adams could realistically be the missing piece the team has needed over the last couple of seasons. Maybe adding the All-Pro wideout might help L.A. get off to a quicker start that it hasn’t enjoyed since the 2021 Super Bowl campaign. Hopefully, Les Snead hit a home run with this signing given his recent failures in free agency.
