A lot of change at position
The Las Vegas Raiders linebackers position has had some changes this offseason. Here is a look at where the position so far:
New free agent added:
Elandon Roberts (Pittsburgh Steelers).
Free agent who departed:
Robert Spillane (New England Patriots).
Divine Deablo (Atlanta Falcons).
Current free agents:
Luke Masterson
Free agents retained:
Kana’i Mauga (Exclusive rights).
Signed to restricted free agent offer sheet:
Christian Ellis (New England)
Returners:
Amari Burney, Tommy Eeichenberg, Amari Gainer
Draft:
Whether or not the Patriots match Ellis’ offer sheet by Monday’s deadline, this is now definitely a major draft need and the Raiders will look at linebackers either in a trade-down in the first round or either in the second or third round. The Raiders need more here and adding more depth is free agency is likely as well.
Conclusion:
There is big change here. The Raiders need Roberts, who is a solid, reliable veteran, to stay healthy. They also need their young players to quickly develop as they adjust to the major change at the position this offseason.
