The Miami Dolphins have a solid trio in Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson, and K.J. Britt, but the inside linebacker unit became a bit more interesting on Wednesday.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that former Kansas City Chiefs second-round pick Willie Gay Jr. agreed to a one-year deal with the Dolphins. A two-time Super Bowl champion, Gay had 28 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble last season for the New Orleans Saints.
After four seasons with the Chiefs, Gay spent last year in New Orleans on a one-year deal. He has recorded seven sacks, intercepted four passes, and forced five fumbles throughout his five-year career.
Brooks was one of Miami’s top defenders last season, while Dodson, despite playing just eight games, led the team with three interceptions. The addition of Britt, who started 14 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, provides the franchise solid depth.
While Gay played only 277 snaps last season—the fewest since his rookie year—he also won two Super Bowls and started 28 games over two seasons for the Chiefs. Despite a limited budget this offseason, Miami has found a way to bolster its linebacker depth as Anthony Weaver enters his second season leading the defense.
