Should Raiders consider it after Geno Smith trade
The Las Vegas Raiders had been considered among the team that were most likely to draft a quarterback in the first round of the April 24-26 draft.
Then, though, Geno Smith happened.
The Raiders, of course, went the veteran route and traded for Smith from the Seattle Seahawks. Smith, who turns 35 during the season, is expected to be Las Vegas’ starting quarterback for the next few years.
So, that takes away the urgent need of finding a young quarterback.
Yet, there have been reports that Las Vegas could still consider taking a quarterback in the first round.
There are pros and cons of the situation. Having Smith allows the Raiders, who have other needs, to fill another big hole with the No. 6 pick.
But, if the Raiders love someone like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, they could be tempted to take their quarterback of the future and groom him under Smith.
As of right now, which way do you lean?
