Emmanuel Ogbah may provide answers in the trenches for Miami

With Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and several large contracts on the books, the Dolphins must find affordable contributors—but they can’t all be rookies.

The Dolphins have already re-signed five players and reportedly hope edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah will join Elijah Campbell, Liam Eichenberg, Quinton Bell, and Tyrel Dodson. Miami extended an offer to Ogbah, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, but the ten-year veteran has yet to decide whether he’ll return to South Florida for a sixth season.

“Emmanuel is still unsigned [and has] stayed in touch with the Dolphins,” Rosenhaus told WSVN-7 Fox’s Josh Moser. “The Dolphins have offered him a contract to come back, but we haven’t been able to find common ground yet and I don’t think anything is imminent at this time between Emmanuel and the Dolphins.”

Ogbah, 31, appeared in 16 games last season, recording 49 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception. A stout run defender on the edge, Ogbah logged 734 snaps for Miami—over 100 more than he played in the previous two seasons combined.

Ogbah carried a cap hit of just over $7 million last season, which included $4 million in dead money from his previous contract. With free agency just beginning and the Dolphins focused on saving money, Ogbah has reason to wait and see if a better opportunity arises—especially after playing over 700 snaps on a $2 million base salary.

With no depth behind Zach Sieler, Miami needs reinforcements along the defensive line, particularly at defensive tackle and 3-4 defensive end. Bringing back Calais Campbell would be the best-case scenario, but re-signing Ogbah—at the right price—would still provide valuable short-term depth regardless of Campbell’s decision.
