Karras will be a perfect fit on the committee.
Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras, who was originally a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, has been named to the NFL Players Association’s executive committee.
Karras was elected during the annual meetings in Hawaii, NBC Sports and Pro Football Talk reporter Mike Florio wrote. The veteran center has big shoes to fill, replacing defensive back Michael Thomas, who is now retired.
His mission while on the committee is clear, and it is mainly going to be about the education of the players that the union serves.
“My biggest thing will be educating and informing our player population on not only what the union does, but the benefits and programming that have been created for players. I’m excited to get to work and help lead this union,” Karras said via Florio.
Austin Ekeler, Cameron Heyward, Brandon McManus and Calais Campbell are among the several household names to be a part of the committee. Jalen Reeves-Maybin is the president.
As for Karras, he has been with Cincinnati for three seasons, starting 50 games in that span and being one of the most consistent weapons for the team in the interior offensive line. Karras had five years with the Patriots and one year with the Miami Dolphins before joining Cincinnati.
