Giants takeaways from free agency: NY betting big that right QB can be cure-all | The Athletic
“I think once you solve the quarterback issue, I think a lot of these other things will improve as well,” Mara said days after that meeting while explaining his decision to retain the duo.
The early stages of the Giants’ offseason have amplified their words. Forget the aggressive pursuit of Matthew Stafford, or the ongoing dance with Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. The non-quarterback moves the Giants have made in the first week of free agency illustrate what they view as the culprit for last season’s 31st-ranked offense.

2025 NFL free agency: Ranking QB moves, plus big questions | ESPN.com
Ranking team fits for Aaron Rodgers. The Giants are the third-best option because they would seemingly be the only remaining choice if Nos. 1 and 2 don’t work out. The Titans don’t seem interested, and the Browns are up to … whatever they’re up to at quarterback. Malik Nabers is a good young receiver, and New York coach Brian Daboll has had his day in the sun as the league’s exciting young schemer, so the cupboards aren’t empty. But the ceiling is low given the poor state of the offensive depth chart.

Shedeur Sanders appears to be the most likely option if the Giants go quarterback early. Sanders’ college production and grading profile are impressive, but questions remain about his ceiling due to limitations in his physical tools.
Beyond quarterback, the Giants still have key needs at running back, offensive line, and linebacker, which they could address later in the draft if they take Sanders in the first round. However, if they wait on a quarterback, they may struggle to find a starting-caliber option later in a class with limited depth. Their decision at No. 3 overall will set the tone for the franchise moving forward — and could shape the rest of the draft.
Giants LB Chauncey Golston’s lone preference is to be on the field | The Record
The Giants are multiple as well, but whereas Dallas aligned 4-3 in their base, the Giants align 3-4. And with linebackers Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux penciled in as starters, what might that mean for Golston? Is there a positional preference? As it turns out, there’s no. He has only a single preference.
“I prefer to be on the field,” Golston said. “Whatever is going to get me out there.”
2025 NFL free agency grades for all 32 teams | PFF
Chauncey Golston set career highs in total snaps (790) and pressures (37) in 2024 but has been more productive as a rotational player. In 2022 and 2023, he earned PFF pass-rushing grades of 72.5 and 75.0, respectively, while being on the field for fewer than 200 pass-rushing snaps each year.
Paulson Adebo isn’t coming off his best season, but given what his top level has looked like and his age, this is a nice deal for the New York Giants. His best season came in 2023, when he earned an 80.5 PFF coverage grade. Through four seasons in the
