Former Rams edge Michael Hoecht faces 6-game suspension from NFL
Former Rams outside linebacker Michael Hoecht is facing a six-game suspension by the NFL for violating the performance enhancing drugs policy, according to reports on Friday that were confirmed by Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane. The Bills signed Hoecht in free agency and he is one of two players the Bills added this week who were suspended, the other being defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.
Were the Rams aware of a pending suspension and is that the reason that L.A. let Hoecht leave in free agency?

An undrafted free agent in 2021, Hoecht played in 68 of a possible 68 games over four years, while seeing his role increase in 2022 and starting all 17 games in 2023. Hoecht had 13.5 sacks and 180 tackles with the Rams prior to signing a free agent deal with the Bills this week.
Hoecht was excited to be joining the Bills, signing a three-year, $21 million deal.

The Rams may not have needed Hoecht now that they have Jared Verse, but knowing that he might be suspended for six games would only make it more apparent that it was time to move on.
