The Colts have recently re-signed their backup interior offensive line depth, with two roster moves.

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Indianapolis Colts have re-signed backup interior offensive lineman Danny Pinter to a one-year, $1.67M deal:

Originally a 2020 5th round pick of the Colts out of local Ball State, the 28-year-old South Bend native has made 9 career starts for Indianapolis—including two as a spot-starter at center last season. He’s appeared in 60 games for the Colts during his 5-year NFL career.

Per PFF, he earned a +68.6 overall grade during those 2 starts at center in 2024, including a +69.1 run blocking grade. That +68.6 overall grade was the 14th best among all centers.

Particularly with longtime veteran center Ryan Kelly departing to the Minnesota Vikings in free agency, the Colts assuredly wanted to retain Pinter for additional center depth.

While 2nd-year pro Tanor Bortolini is the projected new starter there, Pinter provides veteran insurance as a capable spot-starter. He’s much more natural at center than guard—the latter where he seems to lack some size and playing strength.

It was also reported by The Athletic’s James Boyd on Tuesday that the team re-signed another backup interior offensive lineman Wesley French. The 28-year-old has appeared in 17 games for Indianapolis, making 3 starts—all during the 2023 season.

Even though the Colts have ‘French,’ they won’t have ‘Fries’ anymore, as starting right guard Will Fries joined Kelly in Minnesota through free agency on a lucrative, multi-year deal.
