How do you feel about the safety switch?
The Las Vegas Raiders made a switch at safety on Monday.
Standout Tre’von Moehrig, who was considered a priority for the team, agreed to a three-year, $51 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. Shortly later, the Raiders agreed to terms with safety Jeremy Chinn of the Washington Commanders. Chinn is signing a two-year, $16-plus million deal with the Raiders with about $12 million in guaranteed money, according to Fox.
Moehrig, a 2021 second-round pick, was widely considered a better player than Chinn heading into free agency. But eh is also more expensive.
Moehrig had an excellent 2024 season and he is considered an ascending player. He turns 26 in June.
Still, Chinn is a quality player. He is a versatile safety who was used basically as a extra linebacker for the Commanders in 2024 where had a nice season.
Chinn, 27, was a second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2020. He played in Washington on a one-year deal in 2024. He had a career-high 117 tackles in 2024.
