Las Vegas adds Green Bay cornerback
The Las Vegas Raiders made their first addition of Day 2 in free agency when they agreed to terms with cornerback Eric Stokes of the Green Bay Packers. NFL Media reported Stokes will sign a one-year deal worth $4 million with the Raiders.
Stokes, who turned 26 last week, was a first-round pick of the Packers in 2021 (the No. 29 overall pick). Stokes, who has great speed, has 32 NFL starts. He started 14 games as a rookie and nine in his second season, but just a total of nine starts in the past two seasons. He missed a total of 22 games in 2022 and ‘23 due to injuries.
Stokes, a Georgia product, started seven games in 2024. Stokes will likely be a rotational player or he could compete with Jakorian Bennett for a starting job depending on what else Las Vegas does in free agency and in the draft at the position.
The team has been known to be looking at players at the position.
Raiders’ nickel cornerback Nate Hobbs agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal with Stokes’ former team Monday.
At the moment, the Raiders have Jack Jones, Bennett, Stokes, Decamerion Richardson, Kyu Blu Kelly and Sam Webb at cornerback. They also agreed to safety/cornerback Lonnie Johnson.
In addition to Stokes and Johnson, the Raiders have agreed to terms with safety Jeremy Chinn and linebacker Elandon Johnson since Monday.
