Ashtyn Davis brings versatility to Miami Dolphins safety room.

The Miami Dolphins were in need of safety help after letting former second-round pick Jevon Holland leave in free agency for the New York Giants. Well, it was another New York team that was poached as the Dolphins signed former New York Jets safety Ashtyn Davis on Tuesday night according to Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Davis — 28 years old — was drafted with the 68th overall pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft after playing his college ball at California.

Since entering the league, Davis has played both strong safety and free safety for the Jets, playing in 69 games with 22 starts. He has amassed 175 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 15 passes defensed and 8 interceptions — including 5 interceptions over the last two seasons.

Davis joins Ifeatu Melifonwu as new additions to Miami’s secondary in this round of free agency. Elijah Campbell was also re-signed by the club.

We will continue to keep you updated with all things Miami Dolphins free agency as the news becomes available.

UPDATE: According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Ashtyn Davis signed for $2.5 million, but could earn a maximum of $3 million on his one-year deal.
