It is being reported that Puka Nacua is giving up his jersey number to newly signed Davante Adams
Our recent Random Ramsdom asked if Puka Nacua or Davante Adams would be keeping their jersey number as both players have worn #17 in the NFL, and today we got word Adams will be keeping #17 while Nacua will switch to #12.
The Los Angeles Rams have made the announcement official as Nacua goes back to his college jersey number, and Adams maintains his coveted 17.
The NFL has had plenty of free agency news with more to come, so this jersey news may easily get lost in the shuffle, but hopefully we’ll know what Adams offered Nacua and ultimately what they settled on for Puka to give up the number he has worn throughout his NFL career.
Nacua even recently was on the St. Brown Podcast and the third-year receiver said that he was not sure what it would take for him to give up #17, but obviously Adams thought of something. Perhaps free Taco Bell for life?
Jersey numbers matter to some players more than others as it can be their brand, it can be sentimental, or it can be a random number that after a few seasons you fall in love with.
Nacua has looked righteous making plays for the Rams while rocking 17. Now he gets the chance to look just as cool while wearing 12, while Adams continues to play with the number he has worn his entire NFL career.
Who knows, maybe had Nacua not been willing to switch numbers Adams would’ve held out, but for now it looks like that potential crisis has been avoided.
