Despite signing a pair of top free agent defensive backs on Monday, the Colts may not be quite meaningfully done yet.
The contract details for new Indianapolis Colts safety Camryn Bynum’s contract have been revealed, which the terms are set to pay him $60 million over 4 years (with $26M guaranteed and an $18M signing bonus).
#Colts Cam Bynum four-year, $60 million deal: $32M guaranteed, $18M signing bonus, salaries $2M (gtd), $10M ($6M gtd fully), $13.47M ($4M gtd for inj at signing, skill, cap if on roster 5th day 2026 lg yr), $13.47M 9$2M gtd for inj), $14.49M; $30K per game active roster bonus…

That isn’t necessarily the surprising part, as the Colts other big free defensive back signing of the day, Charvarius Ward, is scheduled to make 3-years, $60 million (with $35 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus).
What is though is that per OverTheCap, Bynum is set to have only a $7.01M cap hit in 2025, which for those keeping score at home, is just slightly more than the $6.49M than the Colts would’ve otherwise paid since recently waived backup nose tackle Raekwon Davis.

It means that after signing Bynum, Ward, and even wideout (special teams ace) Ashton Dulin, the Colts may have more available team salary cap space than initially anticipated to still make a major move.
Is that re-signing starting right guard Will Fries?
Is that trading for NFL All-Pro Trey Hendrickson?
The latter would likely require more salary cap maneuvering—although we’ll have to see if Ward’s deal is similarly backloaded.
Is that signing free agent QB Daniel Jones?
More than anything, it may mean stay tuned because the Colts still have some wiggle room to improve next year’s team.
I’ll say this though, if Indianapolis somehow finds a way to land Hendrickson, as a truly elite NFL pass rusher—with 35.0 sacks over the past two seasons, then this would truly be a surprising offseason for the ages—and one to really celebrate for the Horseshoe faithful.
