The Bengals are filling out their secondary with a familiar face.
The Cincinnati Bengals continued to fill out their roster on Tuesday morning, as it was reported by Adam Schefter that the team had come to an agreement with cornerback Marco Wilson on a one-year deal worth $1.52 million.
Wilson was a fourth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft, being selected at No. 136 out of Florida. He started 13 games for the Cardinals in his rookie season and the following season. He finished his first year with 48 tackles, two forced fumbles, and broke up two passes, and in his second season, he intercepted three passes and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week against the Saints in Week 7.
He was released in December of 2023 and was signed by the Patriots. Then, when the Patriots waived him in November of 2024, the Bengals scooped him up off waivers. With injuries to DJ Turner and Dax Hill, Wilson helped take some pressure off those corners who were left as a rotational piece.
Wilson joins Cam Taylor-Britt, Hill, Turner, Josh Newton, DJ Ivey, and others this offseason in hopes of carving out a spot on the 53-man roster. His relatively low salary doesn’t force the Bengals to keep him around if they feel he’s not a good fit. Overall, this is a good addition to the cornerback depth.
