The Eagles utilized a fullback last season, could they be interested in adding one of the best at the position?
The Philadelphia Eagles experimented with the idea of using a fullback last season, utilizing Ben VanSumeren at times before his season-ending injury in Week 11. Now, they’ll have another option to consider at the position with news that the 49ers have informed Kyle Juszcyk that he’ll be released ahead of free agency.

The Eagles only targeted VanSumeren once through 11 weeks, but Juszcyk has some abilities that would allow him to be used in different ways. From blocking to pass-catching, he would provide an interesting addition to the offense and could function as a tight end-esc player.
Juszcyk took a pay cut last season to stay in San Francisco, and was set to make $4.1 million in 2025. Instead, the 49ers have decided to move on and he’ll test the market for the first time in nearly a decade.
VanSumeren is an exclusive rights free agent this offseason for the Eagles, and the early indications are that the team expects him to be back in time for the 2025 season. Still, Juszcyk’s availability is sure to at least draw some interest from Howie Roseman.
