Another player heading out of Minnesota
The moves are now coming in fast and furious, as another member of the Minnesota Vikings has gotten a significant payday to move on to another team.
Safety Camryn Bynum has agreed to a four-year, $60 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, according to numerous sources.
Bynum was drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round of the 2021 after a successful college career at Cal-Berkeley. Bynum started three games as a rookie and followed that up by starting all 17 games for the purple in each of the next three seasons. He intercepted eight passes in his career with the Vikings and, overall, provided a solid complement to Harrison Smith in the back end of the Minnesota secondary.
This past season, Bynum became almost as well-known for his role as the Vikings celebration choreographer as he did for his play on the field. The Vikings consistently had the best celebrations in the league when the defense forced a turnover, and while that obviously wasn’t Bynum’s primary duty, it’s kind of cool that he was getting recognized for it anyway.
This move leaves a bit of a hole in the Vikings’ defense, particularly with the fate of Harrison Smith still uncertain at this point. We’ll have to see what steps the Vikings take to remedy that issue.
