Giants fans prefer Winston, but it’s very close
We have a pretty good idea as to what the New York Giants’ plan is at the quarterback position for 2025 and beyond.
Well, at least we have a pretty good idea as to the general shape of the plan, if not specific names.
We know that the team would prefer to sign a veteran quarterback who can provide some semblance of stability and allow the team to function in 2025. At the same time, they want to draft a young passer to develop behind the veteran.
The Giants are exploring every possibility to fill out their quarterback room. And right now a few names among the veteran pool have emerged as being both likely to be available and viable starters. The most prominent among them are Aaron Rodgers, Jameis Winston, and Russell Wilson.
And with the 2025 free agency period less than a week away, we asked the Big Blue View community which of those three they’d like to see the Giants sign.
Perhaps unsurprisingly fans are divided on which veteran quarterback they want to see in a Giants’ uniform, though they’re pretty clear about which one they don’t.

Seeing Winston at 38 percent of the vote while Wilson got 37 percent is very interesting.
The two quarterbacks share certain similarities in that they’re willing and able to throw the ball down the field. Fans could be leaning a bit more toward Winston due to his lower (likely) cost, even if his “YOLO!” play style might bring back memories of “Bad Eli”.
Wilson, on the other hand, is more judicious as a passer and has played at a Super Bowl level — but he’ll also be more expensive. It’s also fair to wonder if Wilson would want a short-term home or be willing to move to a backup role when the rookie is ready to start.
Aaron Rodgers trails both Winston and Wilson by a healthy margin. The 41-year old former Packer and Jet has the highest name recognition, but is also in obvious decline compared to his play in 2021. Of course, the fact remains that the Giants desperation could make them his best option.
